Gavin Newsom\u2019s (D-Calif.) coronavirus vaccine mandate.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement came Wednesday, after the Calaveras Unified School District voted to not \u201csupport, enforce or comply\u201d with the order Tuesday night. Earlier this month, the district noted they were made aware of potential impacts of liability exposure, funding loss and other formal actions that could be taken against the district. However, they held strong in their unanimous decision.<\/p>\n<p>The mandate would apply to both students and staff and comes after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) authorized the jab for kids ages 5-11. The school district\u2019s decision also goes against doctor recommendations that have said vaccination is necessary in order to \u201ckeep our communities safe and our schools open.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">After undergoing rigorous review, the COVID-19 vaccine has been authorized and recommended by the FDA and CDC for kids age 5-11.
