Increased demands from package shippers like Amazon have&nbsp;<a title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/01\/22\/959273022\/theres-no-end-in-sight-mail-delivery-delays-continue-across-the-country\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">forced the USPS to re-allocate resources from mail delivery<\/a>&nbsp;to package delivery.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts have confirmed that the&nbsp;<a title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/new-study-examines-how-the-us-postal-service-uses-subsidies-and-special-privileges-to-support-its-parcel-business-at-the-expense-of-universal-mail-service-301398362.html?tc=eml_cleartime\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">USPS uses its traditional mail service, along with its tax exemptions and access to treasury loans to support its surging package delivery business<\/a>. Meanwhile, delivery times in its traditional mail service <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/usps-mail-delays-louis-dejoy-10-year-plan-longer-delivery-times-service-cuts\/\">continue to stagnate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>By lobbying to keep USPS package shipping rates artificially low, while at the same time dumping its unprofitable business \u2013 i.e. rural delivery \u2013 onto the USPS, Amazon and the Package Coalition are&nbsp;<a title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/ir.citi.com\/XInLvxkr5F%2FJvyPr1NMl%2FPcIgrn%2BXqplW8cqbv2ImZxLKrWAiRT%2BcFMjQe6C%2BuQT9n1mvCnznGU%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bankrupting the USPS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During coronavirus, the taxpayers provided $10 billion in relief funding to the USPS.
