Tom Cotton (R-AR) charged President Joe Biden in a tweet Thursday with purposely causing gas prices to rise, saying that \u201cthis is by design.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe high cost of gas is not an unintended consequence. It\u2019s what Joe Biden and the Democrats want to get people out of SUVs and trucks. (Photo by Justin Sullivan\/Getty Images)\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">SAN RAFAEL, CALIFORNIA \u2013 OCTOBER 05: Gas prices approaching $5 a gallon are displayed in front of a Shell gas station on October 05, 2021, in San Rafael, California (Photo by Justin Sullivan\/Getty Images).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Many talking heads on the left continue to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NoLieWithBTC\/status\/1457889914134085634\">insist<\/a> that \u201cpresidents do not control gas prices,\u201d some <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kenklippenstein\/status\/1458846497856962563\">suggesting<\/a> gas prices are high because \u201cSaudi Arabia is withholding oil production,\u201d thus driving up inflation in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>But while Biden oversees the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/11\/01\/bidenflation-gas-pump-prices-hit-7-year-high\/\"> highest gas prices in seven years<\/a> \u2014 with the AAA reporting an <a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\">average price<\/a> of more than $3.40 \u2014 he continues to cripple America by making the country more dependent on foreign actors who have the potential to \u201cwithhold\u201d oil in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>Biden started his presidency by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/2020-election\/2021\/01\/19\/bidens-plan-shut-down-keystone-xl-pipeline-sparks-battle-canada-slashes-american-jobs\/\">canceling<\/a> the Keystone Pipeline, halting energy exploration on federal land, and ending America\u2019s energy independence, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2020\/03\/03\/exclusive-energy-secretary-dan-brouilette-president-trump-has-made-america-energy-independent\/\">gained<\/a>&nbsp;under former President Donald Trump. Meanwhile, Biden continues to enable other countries to produce oil while stymieing production at home. Soon after he canceled the Keystone Pipeline, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/05\/18\/report-joe-biden-will-waive-sanctions-for-russia-pipeline-to-germany\/\">removed Trump-era Russia sanctions<\/a> in order to streamline construction on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline to Germany.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The problem has persisted long enough that the Biden administration can no longer get away with calling inflation \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/clips\/2021\/11\/10\/cnns-burnett-people-think-biden-isnt-paying-enough-attention-to-economy-because-his-admin-said-its-transitory-for-months\/\">transitory<\/a>.\u201d Instead, they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/clips\/2021\/11\/05\/energy-secy-granholm-laughs-blames-opec-when-asked-her-plan-to-increase-oil-production\/\">laugh on live television<\/a> when questioned about gas prices, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/01\/watch-biden-admits-irony-of-asking-opec-for-oil-while-pushing-climate-change-policies\/\">admit the irony<\/a> of asking OPEC for oil while fighting \u201cclimate change\u201d at home, and continue to study the impacts of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/08\/white-house-confirms-biden-effort-to-shut-down-another-major-pipeline\/\">shutting down another pipeline.<\/a>&nbsp;In a flashier show of hand, Biden\u2019s Comptroller of the Currency nominee actually \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bidennoms\/status\/1458180110872457216?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1458180110872457216%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com%2Fpolitics%2F2021%2F11%2F10%2Fbidens-comptroller-of-the-currency-nominee-declares-war-on-fossil-fuels-go-bankrupt-to-tackle-climate-change%2F\">said the quiet part out loud<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want them [the oil and gas companies] to go bankrupt if we want to tackle climate change,\u201d&nbsp;Saule Omarova <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/10\/bidens-comptroller-of-the-currency-nominee-declares-war-on-fossil-fuels-go-bankrupt-to-tackle-climate-change\/\">said<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"10\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Biden nominee Saule Omarova saying the quiet part out loud. On the oil, coal and gas industries:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want them to go bankrupt if we want to tackle climate change.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/luMR2HEMK9\">pic.twitter.com\/luMR2HEMK9<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 BidenNoms, A Project of AAF (@bidennoms) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bidennoms\/status\/1458180110872457216?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 9, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A <em>New York Time<\/em>s reporter outright <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/31\/nyt-reporter-asks-raising-gas-prices-middle-class-cut-fossil-fuel-consumption\/\">asked<\/a> Biden in October at the&nbsp;G20 Summit to raise gasoline prices on middle class people around the world to reduce carbon emissions and curtail climate change. The reporter\u2019s&nbsp;question prompted a nervous grin from the president, knowing full well that such an initiative would be political suicide.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, because they have to get to work,\u201d Biden responded. \u201cThey have to get in the automobile, turn on the key, get their kids to school. School buses have to run. That\u2019s the reason why; you know that. The idea that there is an alternative to walk away from being able to get in your automobile is just not realistic. It\u2019s just not going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The president acknowledged that gas prices higher than $3.35 a gallon have a tremendous economic impact on the middle class.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy the way, when the cost of a gallon of gasoline gets to above $3.35 a gallon, it has a profound impact on the working-class families just to get back-and-forth to work,\u201d he said. \u201cSo I don\u2019t see anything inconsistent with that.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sen.
