Wisconsin anti-abortion group questions licenses of abortion doctors.
A Christian Anti-Abortion Organization Takes Bold Action Against Physicians Performing Abortions in Wisconsin
A Christian anti-abortion organization in Wisconsin is making waves by challenging the medical licenses of physicians who perform abortions in the state. They argue that these doctors are violating the 1849 statute that currently prohibits abortion and is currently being debated in the courts.
“They’re the medical professionals. They’re not above the law,” Dan Miller of Pro-Life Wisconsin passionately expressed to the Washington Examiner.
Ever since the overturning of Roe v. Wade in June 2022, abortion has been illegal in Wisconsin. The Antebellum statute 940.04, which bans the controversial procedure, immediately came into effect.
However, in July, Dane County Circuit Judge Diane Schlipper interpreted the 19th-century legislation to only forbid coerced abortions or attacks on pregnant women. This ruling opened the door for the state’s abortion ban to proceed through higher-level courts. Despite this, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin resumed abortion services in Milwaukee and Madison as of September 18.
Miller sees this move by Planned Parenthood as audacious, considering the ongoing legal challenge against the abortion ban. ”They’re performing illegal abortions, and I’m sure all these doctors are very well-meaning, but they’ve been misinformed,” Miller stated. “They got bad advice.”
Miller’s frustration led him to contact the Milwaukee police department on September 18, urging them to enforce the anti-abortion statute despite Schlipper’s ruling. However, he claims to have been “hung up on” by the chief of police after facing resistance from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
After exhausting other legal options to halt abortions in the state, Miller had the idea to approach the state medical licensing board. “If there are any complaints lodged against [physicians], they have to address the complaint in some way,” Miller explained.
Planned Parenthood Wisconsin did not respond to requests for comment from the Washington Examiner.
Pro-Life Wisconsin filed a complaint against the statewide organization, as well as the medical director for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, Kathy King, and OB-GYN Kristin Lyerly from the Green Bay area.
Lyerly, a prominent abortion rights activist in the region, ran for the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2020 but lost to incumbent John Macco. There were speculations in May that Lyerly might run against U.S. Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) in the 2024 election.
However, Miller’s main motive for filing complaints against abortion providers is to attract greater scrutiny from malpractice insurance companies that cover Planned Parenthood. ”If I commit an illegal act in my house and it results in a fire, the insurance company won’t cover the claim because the fire was a result of an illegal act,” Miller explained.
“It’s a sad, sad day when an organization like Planned Parenthood has no other option but to break the law,” Miller lamented.

What are the arguments of critics who believe that organizations like Pro-Life Wisconsin are infringing on a woman’s right to choose and why do they believe access to safe and legal abortions is essential for women’s reproductive rights
Al battle over the statute’s interpretation. He believes that physicians who are performing abortions are willfully violating the law and should be held accountable for their actions.
Pro-Life Wisconsin, the organization spearheading this movement, has taken legal action to address what they see as a clear violation of the law. They have filed complaints with the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board against several physicians who continue to perform abortions despite the ban.
According to Pro-Life Wisconsin, the 1849 statute is clear in its language and intent. It explicitly prohibits abortion with no exceptions, and any interpretations that allow for certain circumstances are in direct contradiction to the law. The organization argues that Dane County Judge Schlipper’s interpretation was misguided and should not have allowed for any exceptions.
The Christian anti-abortion organization is not alone in its fight against physicians performing abortions in the state. There are many pro-life groups and activists who believe in the sanctity of life and the protection of the unborn. They see abortion as a grave moral and ethical issue and are dedicated to advocating for its complete eradication.
However, there are also critics who argue that the actions of Pro-Life Wisconsin and other anti-abortion organizations are infringing on a woman’s right to choose. They believe that women should have the autonomy to make decisions about their own bodies and that access to safe and legal abortions is essential for women’s reproductive rights.
In the midst of this debate, the fate of the 1849 abortion statute hangs in the balance. The ongoing legal battle will determine whether the ban on abortion will be upheld or overturned. Pro-Life Wisconsin’s bold action against physicians performing abortions is just one part of a larger fight to protect the rights of the unborn and redefine the boundaries of abortion legislation.
It remains to be seen how this legal challenge will unfold and what impact it will have on the future of abortion in Wisconsin. As both sides of the debate continue to clash, it is clear that the issue of abortion will remain a contentious one with no easy resolution in sight.
