White House anticipates Hunter Biden plea inquiries in press briefing.

White House press secretary addresses Hunter Biden’s‌ plea hearing

During⁤ Wednesday’s‍ press briefing, ‌White⁤ House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre took a moment to address the recent plea ⁤hearing of Hunter Biden in federal court. ⁢She sought to ‌preempt any questions regarding the case and provide⁢ some clarity on the matter.

“Hunter Biden is ⁣a private citizen, and this was a personal matter for him. As‌ we have said, ⁢the president and the first lady, ⁤they love their son and they support him as he continues to⁤ rebuild‌ his life,” she ‌stated. “This case was handled independently, as all of you know, by‌ the Justice Department, under ⁤the leadership ⁤of ⁤a prosecutor appointed by the former president, President Trump.”

Despite expectations⁣ of a guilty plea, Hunter Biden ultimately pleaded ⁣not ⁣guilty to two ⁢federal tax charges. However, ⁤the plea deal fell apart during the hearing when Judge Maryellen‍ Noreika, a Trump-appointed judge overseeing the case, called for a recess to renegotiate ⁤the ⁤terms. The renegotiation aimed to prevent Hunter Biden from receiving immunity from potential future⁤ charges ‌related to the ongoing federal investigation into his business dealings.

While Jean-Pierre ‌typically avoids‍ addressing ‍questions about ‍President Joe Biden’s‍ son, she made an exception on Wednesday to provide some insight into the ⁣situation. She emphasized that the case was⁣ handled independently by ⁤the Justice ‍Department and directed further inquiries to the Department of Justice and Hunter’s representatives.
