The White House Appeals to Journalists for Help in Impeachment Inquiry
The White House has reached out to journalists, urging them to assist in countering the House’s impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden. Ian Sams, a White House spokesman, issued a memo to editorial leadership at U.S. news organizations, emphasizing the need for the media to intensify its scrutiny of House Republicans and their alleged “lies” behind the impeachment inquiry.
Republicans Struggle to Find Evidence
The memo argues that House Republicans have failed to produce any evidence of wrongdoing by the President. It highlights comments from GOP officials expressing skepticism about the impeachment endeavor. Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) announced the impeachment inquiry.”>formal impeachment inquiry against Biden, citing “serious and credible allegations” of corruption.
In a follow-up letter to colleagues, McCarthy outlined the evidence gathered by GOP investigators, including bank records and testimony. He also announced a “special conference” with committee chairs to discuss the matter further. Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY), Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), and Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO) have been tasked with leading the impeachment effort.
White House Forms “War Room”

Democrats Stand Firm
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) asserted that there is no evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden. He vowed that Democrats would defend the President until the end. Some media outlets, such as The New York Times, have already suggested that Republicans lack sufficient evidence for an impeachment inquiry but believe further investigation is warranted.
Reporter Challenges GOP Representative
A reporter engaged in an exchange with Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA), who shared examples of what the House GOP has learned during the impeachment inquiry. The reporter argued that the American people cannot see the evidence and perceive it as political revenge. Perry, chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, responded by saying, “Because you don’t report on it.”
