White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki revealed Joe Biden would not be firing anyone for the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal and has no comment on the articles of impeachment against him. During Friday’s press briefing at the White House, Psaki said Biden still has confidence in his top generals and diplomats despite criticism levied against them.
“Let me be clear: The evacuation of thousands of people from Kabul was going to be hard and painful no matter when it started, when we began. It would have been true if we had started a month ago…or a month from now,” said Biden. “There’s no way to evacuate this many people without pain and loss of heartbreaking images you see on television. It’s just a fact.”
Psaki called the attack at the Kabul airport, where multiple U.S. service members were killed, a tragedy. However, when a reporter asked the White House’s response to the articles of impeachment introduced against Biden, Psaki deflected and didn’t give an answer.
She added losing members of the military is devastating no matter how many times it may happen.
