‘We Struggle To Heat Our Homes’: King Charles III Gets Heckled In Wales

King Charles III was heckled Friday in Wales outside the Welsh Parliament when he went over to greet cheering members of the public following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on September 8. She was 96.

It happened during the king’s first official trip to the area as the new monarch of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth realms. In the clip, the king approaches a group of people, and a man in the crowd shouts to Charles, “While we struggle to heat our homes, we have to pay for your parade.”

“The taxpayer pays 100 million [British pound] for you,” he added. “And what for?”

According to a conversion chart, 100 million British pounds comes out to $114,237,000.

Despite the man’s comments, the crowd appeared pleased to see the king, smiling, cheering, and shaking hands with him.

British TV host Piers Morgan caught wind of the clip and defended the king while calling out the person who heckled the member of the royal family.

“Imagine doing this to a man whose mother died a few days ago?” Morgan tweeted to his seven million plus followers. “So disgusting.”

During the last week, members of the public have come from all over to watch the royal procession of the queen’s coffin as it has traveled from her Balmoral Castle in Scotland to her final resting place in Windsor, The Washington Post noted.

It comes after her death earlier this month, which was followed by a declaration of 10-days of mourning in the kingdom, as The Daily Wire previously reported.

In a pre-recorded speech, the king recently gave his first official address as monarch in which he thanked everyone for their love and devotion to his family.

“I want simply to say this: Thank you,” the royal shared. “Thank you for your love, and devotion to our family, and to the family of nations you have served so diligently all these years. May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”
