WATCH LIVE: Patel & Pirro hold briefing on National Guardsmen shooting in DC

FBI Director Kash Patel and U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro held a briefing to provide updates on the recent shooting of two National Guardsmen in Washington, D.C. The incident occured near the Farragut West Metro station, close to the White House, leaving the soldiers critically injured.The alleged suspect, 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, reportedly entered the U.S. in 2021 under the Biden administration’s Operation Allies Welcome and overstayed his visa. Former President Donald trump criticized President Joe Biden for allowing Lakanwal into the country and has as urged the deployment of 500 additional troops to D.C. in response to the shooting.

FBI Director Kash Patel and U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro are giving a briefing Thursday morning to update the public on the National Guardsmen shooting in D.C.

The shooting took place on Wednesday afternoon, and critically injured two National Guardsmen from West Virginia near a Metro station in close proximity to the White House. The suspect is believed to be 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who reportedly entered the United States in 2021 and overstayed his visa

President Donald Trump blamed former President Joe Biden for letting Lakanwal into the United States four years ago, as the suspect reportedly arrived in the country under the Biden administration’s Operation Allies Welcome. 

In the wake of Wednesday’s shooting, War Secretary Pete Hegseth said Trump asked him to send 500 additional troops to D.C.
