WATCH LIVE: Johnson holds a press briefing

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and GOP House leadership held a press briefing as the House approaches the December 31 deadline for Obamacare premium subsidies, with no bipartisan agreement in sight. Johnson aims too unify republicans behind his “Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act,” which does not include an extension of the current premium subsidies. Meanwhile, centrist Republicans hope for a two-year extension, and Democrats, led by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), continue to push for a three-year extension. The lack of consensus highlights increasing tensions as the subsidy expiration deadline looms.
