Officials announced the National Park Service’s peak bloom prediction for the cherry trees around the Tidal Basin at a press conference for the National Cherry Blossom Festival. Peak bloom is expected from March 29 through April 1. The festival itself runs from March 20 to April 12.Speakers at the event include Washington, DC Mayor Muriel bowser; Diana Mayhew, president of the National Cherry Blossom Festival; and Masatsugu Odaira, the Japanese Embassy’s minister for public affairs. The National Park Service is revealing its peak bloom prediction for the cherry trees surrounding the Tidal Basin during the National Cherry Blossom Festival press conference at 11 a.m. Thursday.
