More than two ⁣years ago, a male student wearing a skirt sexually assaulted two victims in the girls’ bathroom of a Loudoun County school. ⁣Now, one of the⁢ victims is seeking‌ $30 ‍million⁢ in damages.

The⁢ lawsuit focuses on the fact that the student, despite using the women’s bathroom and identifying as male, committed the⁤ assaults. The gender identity aspect is not the main issue in the case.

The first assault occurred in May,⁣ and the second took place in October 2021 at a different high ‌school.

The 15-year-old assaulter was ⁤convicted of both offenses as a juvenile.

The victim’s family⁣ alleges that the school district covered up the attack to protect its new restroom policy for transgender students.

The victim has faced⁢ significant academic, emotional,⁣ and⁤ physical ⁣struggles⁢ since the assault.

According to court records, the⁢ male student and the victim had arranged to meet in the bathroom before the incident occurred.

After the May assault, the attacker was charged⁣ and prohibited from returning to the school. However, he was transferred‍ to another nearby high school where the second assault occurred.

The Loudoun County grand jury accused the school system’s superintendent of lying to the ‍public and authorities of ignoring warning signs that ⁢could have prevented the assaults.

During a ⁢school board⁤ meeting in June 2021, the superintendent denied any knowledge of assaults in the restrooms, but emails revealed that he was aware of the Stone Bridge assault.

“To my knowledge,” the⁤ superintendent said, “we don’t have any record of assaults in our restrooms.” However,‍ emails demonstrate that he⁤ was aware of the Stone Bridge assault and alerted board members about it.

The superintendent later‍ admitted to misinterpreting⁢ the question.

Last week, the⁢ superintendent was found guilty of retaliatory firing in⁢ connection with the district’s handling of the assaults.

The identities⁢ of the attacker and victims remain anonymous‌ due to⁢ their age.
