Veteran Aussie Cop’s Shot Targeting Hannukah Mass Murderer Is Being Called ‘Once in a Lifetime’ Takedown, But Was It?
A New South Wales detective, Cesar Barraza, is being praised for his heroic actions during a terrorist attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, where 15 people were killed. Barraza, a 15-year veteran, took an unusual long-distance shot-estimated at around 130 feet-to fatally shoot one of the attackers, Sajid Akram, and wound his son, Naveed. Footage shows Barraza taking cover before firing, and evidence suggests he used a pistol rather than a rifle, making the shot particularly extraordinary given the typical effective range of pistols. Despite the pressure and danger,Barraza displayed remarkable skill and courage. The incident has sparked discussions about gun control and the nature of evil, with some arguing that such attacks cannot be prevented solely through stricter gun laws.
One New South Wales detective is being heralded for his heroic actions Sunday at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, as he took down one of the shooters carrying out an Islamic terrorist attack that would claim the lives of 15 people.
The New York Post reported that the shot this 15-year veteran of the force took is being called “once in a lifetime” by sources inside the police as he took aim and killed one of the terrorists, 50-year-old Sajid Akram, from an estimated 130 feet away.
Was the shot truly as remarkable as those sources say?
The Sydney Morning Herald began circulating footage showing the detective, Cesar Barraza, taking cover behind a tree before taking the shot as Akram and his son, 24-year-old Naveed, were firing from a nearby footbridge.
One major factor to consider in Barraza’s shot would be the type of firearm he used.
Rifles like an AR-15 or a 30-06 would be considerably more accurate at that distance than a pistol.
According to The Gun Zone, the maximum effective range for a pistol would be between 50 – 100 yards, or 150 – 300 feet.
Certainly, the shot is more than possible.
However, according to Anthony Arms, for 9mm pistols, a trained shooter could not reliably hit a target beyond 50 yards.
From the footage – although blurry – it does appear Barraza is firing a pistol, considering the position of his arms when he raises his weapon.
Pictures of him taking the shot were also posted to social media platform X, corroborating that claim.
Give that man a beer. The policeman who shot the Bondi Beach terrorists has been identified as local detective Cesar Barraza. Firing from about 40 metres away he killed Sajid, 50, and wounded Naveed, 24. Good drills Detective. pic.twitter.com/OWC70WUkLM

Further, despite the low resolution of the video, his firearm does not appear large enough to be a rifle.
Barraza is undoubtedly a hero for his actions.
The pressure he must have been under to make the shot is something that would make many miss.
The footage shows him going toward danger, taking aim, and firing.
Leftists worldwide will take from Sunday’s massacre that gun control is the answer, ignoring the evil stirring in the hearts of the terrorists that day. They believe we can simply perfect our systems to achieve a higher means of living.
This is not a problem solved through gun control; evil will still find a way to act.
