Vance’s visit to Montana included meeting with Murdochs: Report

Vice President JD Vance traveled to Montana on Tuesday, where he met with media mogul Rupert Murdoch and his son at their Dillon ranch.

Vance had a meeting with Lachlan Murdoch, the chairman of Fox Corporation and News Corp, which owns Fox News, Sky News Australia, the New York Post, the Sun, and the Wall Street Journal, among others, along with his predecessor and father, Rupert Murdoch. The meeting was confirmed by anonymous sources reporting to the Associated Press.

The vice president’s office does not typically announce travel or release Vance’s schedule, as the White House does for President Donald Trump. The arrival of Air Force Two at the Bert Mooney Airport in Butte, Montana, was a surprise.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a flight advisory over the area. The advisory was short-lived, so it appeared Vance was only in Montana for a few hours. Temporary flight restrictions are imposed over areas where the president and vice president visit.

The Washington Examiner reached out to the White House for comment.

Rupert Murdoch lobbied for then-North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum to be on Trump’s ticket for the second term. Instead, Trump chose Vance, who was backed by Tesla CEO Elon Musk and others. Burgum instead was nominated to be secretary of the interior.

Rupert Murdoch stepped down as chairman of Fox Corporation and News Corp at 92. This year, he turned 94.

Vance has taken on a new effort with the media since his appearances on several podcasts leading up to the election, including the Joe Rogan Experience, This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von, and the Tim Dillon Show. Vance reappeared on This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von in an episode that was filmed around June 5, just days before this Montana meeting. Vance went to musician Kid Rock’s new restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee, The Detroit Cowboy, for the interview with Von.
