Vance says he’s ‘proud to stand beside’ Trump in first statement since Musk social media war – Washington Examiner

Vice President JD Vance expressed his support for President Donald Trump amidst the ongoing conflict between Trump and Elon Musk. The feud involved threats exchanged about government contracts and the future of SpaceX. Vance, who previously remained passive during the discord, stated on social media that he is “proud to stand beside” Trump, emphasizing the presidentS trustworthiness within their movement. Additionally, he made light of the situation by jokingly questioning the lack of news about it. Musk, during the feud, hinted that Trump should be impeached and suggested Vance as a potential successor. The conflict also touched on controversial topics such as Trump’s association with Jeffrey Epstein and criticism of his policy proposals.

Vice President JD Vance stepped up in support of President Donald Trump as the president feuds with former close adviser Elon Musk.

Vance largely took a back seat during the quarrel, which resulted in the pair lobbing threats at each other like Trump revoking government contracts for SpaceX or Musk decommissioning the Dragon spacecraft.

“President Trump has done more than any person in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads. I’m proud to stand beside him,” he wrote on X.

The vice president appeared to joke about the pair’s feud in another post on X a few hours before. “Slow news day, what are we even going to talk about? @TheoVon,” Vance wrote. Musk laughed at the post.

Musk appeared to suggest at one point during the feud on Thursday that Trump should be impeached and replaced with Vance.

“Yes,” Musk wrote on his own social media platform in response to a post calling for the removal of Trump. “President vs Elon. Who wins? My money’s on Elon. Trump should be impeached and JD Vance should replace him,” the post by Ian Miles Cheong read.

Trump said earlier in the day that he didn’t “mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago” before endorsing his “big, beautiful bill” that Musk believes includes too much government spending.

Musk also brought Trump’s association with the late convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein to light, said Trump’s tariffs will cause a recession, and suggested he’s debating starting a centrist political party during the feud.

He believes the bill cannot be big and beautiful. “In the entire history of civilization, there has never been legislation that both big and beautiful. Everyone knows this! Either you get a big and ugly bill or a slim and beautiful bill. Slim and beautiful is the way,” he wrote.
