Vance knocks Stephanopoulos for ending interview over Homan’s ‘fake scandal’
Vice President JD Vance criticized ABC News host George Stephanopoulos for abruptly ending an interview after discussing what Vance called a “fake scandal” involving border czar Tom Homan. The controversy centered on allegations that Homan accepted a $50,000 payment from the FBI under former President Joe Biden. Vance argued there is no evidence of bribery and accused the media of fueling distrust by focusing on this issue. Stephanopoulos pressed Vance on whether Homan actually accepted the money, but ended the interview when he felt Vance did not directly answer.Vance defended Homan as a law enforcer and highlighted that Homan faces frequent death threats. The White House and Homan have denied any wrongdoing, with Democrats in the House Judiciary Committee seeking clarification on the investigation timeline. The incident underscores ongoing tensions over media coverage and political controversies related to border security.
Vance knocks Stephanopoulos for ending interview over Tom Homan’s ‘fake scandal’
Vice President JD Vance rebuked ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos for discussing a “fake scandal” in their interview on Sunday, with the drama focused on border czar Tom Homan.
Vance rebuffed Stephanopoulos for asking about a “bogus” report that Homan accepted $50,000 from former President Joe Biden’s FBI, saying there is “no evidence” the border czar took a bribe and that the media’s focus on it was contributing to the public’s media distrust. Stephanopoulos denied he was going down a “weird left-wing rabbit hole” and ended his interview after concluding Vance did not answer his question on whether the money had actually been accepted.
The White House’s Rapid Response account on X posted footage of Stephanopoulos ending the interview, saying the host got “big mad” at Vance’s response.
VANCE SAYS TROOPS TO BE PAID WITH TARIFF REVENUE DURING SHUTDOWN
“Peace in the Middle East? China threatening critical supply chains? Government shutdown? George S doesn’t care about that. He’s here to focus on the real story: a fake scandal involving Tom Homan,” Vance said while reposting the clip.
Prior to ending the interview, Vance said Homan is being targeted “so aggressively” by the press because he is enforcing the law. He added that Homan is “a good man” and said a more pressing story is why the border czar is receiving constant death threats.
Stephanopoulos pressed Vance again to see if Homan accepted the $50,000, to which Vance said, “He did not take a bribe.” Vance also asked if it is illegal “to take a payment for doing services” and said he didn’t know if Homan accepted this money.
TRUMP TO GREET FREED ISRAELI HOSTAGES IN MIDDLE EAST, VANCE SAID
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) wrote in a letter on Wednesday that Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee never received a response from Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel on why the investigation into Homan had been dropped. The committee is demanding more clarification on the timeline of events surrounding Homan’s alleged bribery acceptance and appointment in the Trump administration.
Homan denied any illegal activity when asked about this alleged payment last month. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt also denounced the report, calling it “another example of the weaponization” of the Biden administration’s Justice Department.
