While some Democrats have called for an indefinite ceasefire, Biden officials, led by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, have advocated for a longer pause to facilitate the release of hostages. Blinken emphasized the importance of extending the pause to ensure the safety of Palestinian civilians and increase humanitarian aid.

Israeli forces have resumed combat operations as of Saturday, and there are conflicting reports on the number of casualties.
