Rep. Cory Mills: A Heroic Effort to Bring Americans Home
Freshman Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) wasted no time and traveled to Israel in mid-October, immediately after the invasion. His sole objective was to rescue Americans who were unable to return home.
“I knew it was time for action,” Mills declared at a press conference. “Talk is over. The time for action is now. On Oct. 11, I entered Israel and initiated ground evacuations.”
With his military background, Mills successfully rescued 32 Americans on the first day and 45 on the second day.
Mills accomplished this by traversing various areas, including the West Bank, Jerusalem, Tiberius, Haifa, and Nazareth. He tirelessly consolidated efforts to extract trapped and abandoned Americans, blaming the Biden administration for their predicament.
But Mills’ work didn’t end there. Upon returning to the United States, he negotiated a plane to evacuate an additional 159 Americans from Israel in late October.
“We must not forget about those who are still stranded, including the innocent hostages held by Hamas, the Iranian-backed terrorist organization,” Mills emphasized.

Also in mid-October, freshman Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-WI), a former Navy SEAL, embarked on a “fact-finding” mission to Israel.
Van Orden described the scenes of devastation left by Hamas as the most horrific experience of his life, surpassing even his multiple combat tours.
“I have cups in my office that I literally pulled out of the bloody dust from that rave where children were executed,” Van Orden shared. “The dust still clings to those cups. This is horrific.”
During his visit, Van Orden spoke with residents who had witnessed unimaginable atrocities. He encountered individuals who had to pick up decapitated children and discovered an infant in a crib so brutally attacked that its humanity was unrecognizable. He also heard accounts of women who had endured brutal gang rapes, resulting in fractured pelvises and spines.
“It was terrible. It was shocking,” Van Orden expressed, clearly affected by what he had witnessed.
Sharing the Stories of Hostage Families
On Nov. 7, exactly one month after the invasion, House Republican leaders invited families whose loved ones had been taken hostage by Hamas to share their heart-wrenching stories.
Doris Liber, whose son Guy Iluz was among the hostages, recounted the horrifying events. Iluz had attended the Nova music festival in Israel, one of the first places invaded by Hamas, where hundreds of Israelis were mercilessly slaughtered.
Iluz managed to call his parents during the invasion, and his father instructed him to hide under dead bodies to evade detection by Hamas. Tragically, the terrorist organization captured him, and his family has not seen him for over 30 agonizing days.
“Every day feels like an eternity to me,” Liber tearfully expressed.

Rep. Michael McCaul: Tireless Efforts to Aid Americans
Another Republican House member, Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), also took it upon himself to help stranded Americans in Israel. McCaul, the ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, traveled to Israel in early November to assess the situation and find ways to assist those in need.
“As a member of Congress and a representative of the American people, it is my duty to ensure the safety and well-being of our citizens,” McCaul stated. “I cannot stand idle while Americans are trapped and facing hardships.”
McCaul met with Israeli officials to discuss coordination efforts and identify the best strategies to help Americans. He toured IDF facilities, speaking with soldiers and gathering information about the ongoing conflict.
Additionally, McCaul worked closely with the Israeli government to secure transportation and logistics for the evacuation of stranded Americans. He helped arranged flights and organized the safe passage of individuals who were desperate to return home.
McCaul’s dedication and tireless efforts resulted in the successful rescue of over 200 Americans, providing them with much-needed relief and ensuring their safe return to the United States.
