Tucker Carlson argues that the US isn’t in a mess during his attendance at the Kid Rock concert

Commentator Tucker Carlson made a surprise appearance at a Kid Rock concert on Saturday evening, where he pushed back against the idea that the United States is “f***ed up.”

Carlson, who was introducing the singer at the Rock the Country music tour during its stop in Gonzales, Louisiana, explained that he had been invited to deliver a speech to the concert attendees. Before the concert, Carlson said he was thinking about what to say and decided to check the internet, but thought to himself, “This country is f***ed up” after reading the news.

“And then I got here, and I walk through the crowd, and I thought ‘no, no it’s not!’” Carlson said to the crowd. “The country they tell me about on the internet is f***ed up. The country that I experience when I walk through this crowd or when I wake up in my town of 100 people in a rural area is a beautiful country, filled with beautiful people.”

The former Fox News anchor went on to state that he had been greeted by a concert attendee ahead of his speech and was told that she was a fan of him. Carlson expressed gratitude for the fan, arguing that this type of interaction is an embodiment of the country that he knows.

“Little weird, slightly crazy, full of love, and beautiful, and that describes the man I’m here to introduce,” Carlson said, referring to Kid Rock. “Yes, it does. If you could take one person out of this nation of 350 million people, and present it to the rest of the world and say, ‘What’s a real American look like?’ I would say that American would be both disobedient but decent. That American would both give you the finger and burst out laughing at the same time.”

Rock himself has not yet discussed Carlson’s appearance at the concert, though he did share footage of concert attendees singing Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” on Friday evening.

The concert was the first stop in the Rock the Country concert tour, in which Rock and country musician Jason Aldean will perform at seven different small towns across the southeastern area of the United States. The country musicians who are performing at various stops include Miranda Lambert, Koe Wetzel, Travis Tritt, and Brantley Gilbert.

The tour’s visit to Louisiana saw around 25,000 concert attendees each day. The next stop is scheduled for Ashland, Kentucky, on April 19-20, and will conclude in Anderson, South Carolina, on July 26-27.
