Tucker Carlson Calls for Invoking the 25th to Remove Biden From Power
Fox News host Tucker Carlson flipped President Joe Biden’s off-script comment over the weekend that Russian President Vladimir Putin cannot remain in power to argue in favor of removing the commander in chief from office.
The top-rated cable news personality advocated invoking the 25th Amendment after Biden appeared to break with his own White House on messaging regarding Russia’s war in Ukraine. What really spooked Carlson was the uncertainty hanging over whether Biden actually wants regime change in Moscow after the president told reporters “nobody believes” he was “talking about taking down Putin” moments after insisting he wasn’t walking back his statement that Putin should not remain in power.
“The joke is over. Too much is at stake. If there ever was a time — if there was in U.S. history ever a time to invoke the 25th Amendment, it is now. As Joe Biden himself put it, ‘For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power.’ For all of our sakes,” Carlson said on his show Monday evening.
In his appearance at the White House on Monday afternoon, Biden asserted he has never articulated a policy change. The president insisted his riffing on how Putin should not be in power days earlier, which upset European partners, “was expressing moral outrage that I feel” and that it was “more of an aspiration than anything.”

The White House, on cleanup duty, also stressed that Biden did not threaten Putin’s standing. “The president’s point was that Putin cannot be allowed to exercise power over his neighbors or the region,” said one White House staffer. “He was not discussing Putin’s power in Russia or regime change.”
Still, regardless of what the president meant to say, Carlson warned that Biden’s own words pose a national security threat.
“It feels almost like we are being mean to the guy by quoting him, and no one wants that. No one is making fun of his age or his diminished condition, only trying to defend the country,” he said.
Carlson isn’t the first to say Biden should be removed via the 25th Amendment. Conservative commentator Mark Levin did so last year.
Section 4 of the 25 Amendment states, “Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.”
Others have advocated for impeachment. Among them is Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who says there should be regime change in the United States. “The most needed regime change right now is the one in the United States for ruining our country,” the Georgia Republican tweeted Monday.

Carlson, who has made headlines in recent weeks for his comments about Putin and Russian state media promoting his commentary, made the case that Biden is unable to control his emotions and said the president’s conduct is more troubling than that of former President Donald Trump.
“There has never been recklessness at this level in the White House. And yes, that includes the last president, who was often attacked for being reckless. Nothing he said compares to this,” Carlson said.
