Trump’s Cabinet cheers Musk quitting – Washington Examiner

During a recent Cabinet meeting, members of President donald Trump’s Cabinet expressed their support for Elon Musk, who is set to leave his role at the department of Government Efficiency. Musk announced he would reduce his involvement with the department to one or two days a week before his official departure next month. Trump praised Musk for his contributions, stating that despite any unfair treatment he has faced, many people respect and appreciate his efforts. MuskS public perception has suffered, with a recent poll showing that only 35% approve of his handling of the government department. The meeting was part of celebrations for Trump’s first 100 days in office, and Musk humorously acknowledged his various roles by wearing two Trump-branded hats. Despite previous clashes with Cabinet members, his demeanor in the meeting was light-hearted and amicable. Tesla, Musk’s company, has faced challenges, including vandalism attacks deemed domestic terrorism by the Justice Department.

Trump’s Cabinet cheers Musk’s imminent departure from government

Members of President Donald Trump‘s Cabinet applauded Elon Musk during Wednesday’s meeting after the president alluded to his imminent departure from the Department of Government Efficiency.

Musk’s special government contract is set to expire next month, but he announced on a Tesla shareholders call last week that he would scale back his work with DOGE to one or two days a week until he departs.

TRUMP’S FIRST 100 DAYS: WHERE THINGS STAND IN THE INITIAL MONTHS OF HIS SECOND TERM

Trump specifically thanked Musk during Wednesday’s more than two-hour Cabinet meeting, which was convened to commemorate Trump’s first 100 days in office.

“You have been treated unfairly, but the vast majority of people in this country really respect and appreciate you, and this whole room can say that very strongly,” Trump said of the tech titan. “You’ve really been a tremendous help. You opened up a lot of eyes as to what can be done, and we just want to thank you very much.”

Elon Musk cracks a joke while speaking at President Donald Trump’s 100 Days Cabinet meeting at the White House.

“And you know you’re invited to stay as long as you want, but at some point he wants to get back home to his cars,” Trump continued, prompting applause from the gathered Cabinet members.

Musk has reportedly clashed with a number of Cabinet members in recent weeks over his chainsaw-like approach to addressing federal waste and bloat.

However, the self-described technologist took a more amiable tact Wednesday when called to speak.

“They say I wear a lot of hats,” Musk, sporting two Trump-branded hats stacked on top of each other, opened his comments, drawing chuckles from the room. “Even my hat has a hat.”

Musk’s work for the Trump administration has severely damaged his public image.

A recent Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll found that just 35% of people approve of Musk’s handling of the Department of Government Efficiency, while 57% disapprove. Musk’s approval rating is worse than Trump’s (34% compared to Trump’s 39%).

Meanwhile, Tesla, Musk’s electric vehicle company, has been the target of nationwide vandalism attacks on cars and dealerships that the Justice Department has deemed domestic terrorism.
