Trump vows ‘consequences’ if Netflix doesn’t fire Susan Rice
trump is pressuring netflix to fire Susan Rice, a Democratic board member, as the company’s pending merger with Warner bros. Finding attracts antitrust scrutiny from the Department of Justice. In a post on Truth Social, he demanded Rice be fired promptly or “pay the consequences,” framing it as retaliation for political reasons and suggesting federal action could follow if Netflix does not comply.
The report places Rice’s membership on Netflix’s board in a broader context of perceived liberal leanings at the company, noting Netflix’s long-running ties to the Obama-era team and its multiyear deal with Barack and Michelle Obama. It describes conservative critics’ view that these connections signal political bias, especially as the Netflix-Warner Bros. merger faces antitrust review. The piece also discusses a social-media post by Laura Loomer arguing the merger would create a streaming monopoly in which the Obamas would have a stake, and she urged Trump to block the deal.
Regulatory details are outlined: the DOJ and the Federal Trade Commission are examining the merger for potential antitrust concerns, while the FCC has limited, indirect involvement. Netflix has also faced a consumer lawsuit related to the merger review. The article notes Trump’s stance on involvement in the regulation process—appearing to say he will stay out for now, despite earlier statements that he would oversee the deal.
Trump vows ‘consequences’ if Netflix doesn’t fire board member Susan Rice
President Donald Trump is pressuring Netflix to fire one of its Democratic board members, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice, as the streaming service’s pending merger with Warner Bros. Discovery draws antitrust scrutiny from the Department of Justice.
“Netflix should fire racist, Trump Deranged Susan Rice, IMMEDIATELY, or pay the consequences,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Saturday evening, seemingly alluding to federal retaliation if his demand is not met. “She’s got no talent or skills – Purely a political hack! HER POWER IS GONE, AND WILL NEVER BE BACK. How much is she being paid, and for what???”
The public demand was made based on a social media post from right-wing journalist Laura Loomer, who pointed to a video in which Rice vowed to hold companies accountable for kowtowing to Trump if Democrats regain power in the federal government.

“There is likely to be a swing in the other direction, and they are going to be caught with more than their pants down,” Rice said of such companies. “They’re going to be held accountable by those who come in opposition to Trump and win at the ballot box.”
Rice’s membership on the Netflix Board of Directors is just one way in which the company demonstrates a left-leaning bent.
Last year, Netflix co-founder and Democratic megadonor Reed Hastings contributed $2 million to back California’s redistricting push that ultimately led to the successful approval of Proposition 50. Furthermore, the streaming service has a multiyear production deal with former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama.
Conservatives often cite the production deal as an example of Netflix’s political bias. Loomer put the entertainment company’s long-standing relationship with the Obamas into context with the Netflix-Warner Bros. merger.
INSIDE THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION’S EFFORTS TO PRESSURE CUBA’S COMMUNIST REGIME OUT
“If the Netflix-Warner Bros. merger is approved, positive messaging of the Democrats’ upcoming witch hunts against Trump from Barack Hussein Obama and his anti-White racist wife Michelle would likely be blasted across all streaming services as the Obamas’ Higher Ground Productions continues to grow within Netflix,” she wrote on X.
Loomer said the end result of the merger is a “streaming monopoly, which the Obamas will have a significant stake in.” Therefore, she called on Trump to “kill” the merger.
Based on his most recent comments on the merger, Trump intends to stay out of the regulatory approval process for now. The president previously said he would be involved in overseeing the deal.
Loomer tagged Brendan Carr, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, in her post. However, the FCC does not hold direct legal jurisdiction over the potential acquisition because it does not involve the transfer of broadcast television licenses.
The DOJ’s Antitrust Division and Federal Trade Commission are the federal bodies authorized to review or approve the deal.

The DOJ is currently investigating whether Netflix’s business amounts to a monopoly that harms filmmakers and studios. This investigation complements the department’s review of the merger. Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos has repeatedly denied that the merger would violate federal antitrust laws.
Netflix’s donations to the Democratic Party were brought up in a line of questioning during a Senate antitrust hearing earlier this month. Republican senators were particularly critical of the merger as it related to Netflix’s political bias and “woke” children’s programming.
