Trump uses UN speech to say Europe is being ruined by mass migration
The article summarizes a speech delivered by former President Donald Trump at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in 2025. In his address, Trump sharply criticized European countries for their handling of mass migration, claiming that unchecked immigration is destroying much of the Western world and warning that Europe is “going to hell” if current policies continue. He specifically highlighted issues in cities like London, where he alleged muslim immigrants are influencing calls for Sharia law, and cited statistics showing a high proportion of foreign inmates in several European countries.Trump contrasted this with his management’s stricter immigration approach in the U.S.
Additionally, Trump condemned the United Nations for failing to prevent invasions and criticized Europe’s energy policies, especially regarding it’s continued reliance on Russian oil amid the ongoing war in Ukraine. he accused nations including China, India, and some NATO members of inadvertently funding the conflict by purchasing Russian energy, and urged European leaders to coordinate with the U.S. in imposing stronger tariffs on Russia to end the bloodshed. Trump emphasized his concern for Europe and pledged to discuss minimizing dependence on Russian resources with European officials during the UN conference.
Trump tells Europe it’s being ruined by mass migration: ‘Your countries are going to Hell’
President Donald Trump criticized European allies in an address before the United Nations, warning them that mass migration will lead to their destruction.
In a winding speech that targeted Europe, past administrations, and even the United Nations, Trump dwelt extensively on the idea that unmitigated immigration is “destroying a large part of the free world.”
“The U.N. is supposed to stop invasions — not create them, and not finance them,” Trump said. “In the United States, we reject the idea that mass numbers of people from foreign lands can be permitted to travel halfway around the world, trample our borders, violate our sovereignty, cause unmitigated crime, and deplete our social safety net.”
He contrasted his administration’s sharp course correction to the continued mass migration in Western Europe, saying the continent is in “serious trouble.”
“[Europe has] been invaded by a force of illegal aliens like nobody’s ever seen before. Illegal aliens are pouring into Europe and nobody’s doing anything to change it, to get them out,” Trump told the gathering of diplomats. “It’s not sustainable, and because they choose to be politically correct, they’re doing just absolutely nothing about it.”
TRUMP GOES SCORCHED EARTH ON UN AND ACCUSES IT OF NOT BEING FIT FOR PURPOSE
Trump drew particular attention to London, where he just had a state visit with King Charles III. He said the city has “so changed” that arriving Muslim immigrants are seeking to “go to Sharia law.”
Trump went on to cite 2024 statistics from the Council of Europe that found that the majority of inmates in Germany, Austria, Greece, and Switzerland were from foreign countries. He said the trends of mass immigration will contribute to the “death of Western Europe if something is not done immediately.”
“I’m the president of the United States, but I worry about Europe. I love Europe, I love the people of Europe,” Trump said, ultimately warning, “It’s time to end the failed experiment of open borders. You have to end it now […] I can tell you. I’m really good at this stuff — your countries are going to hell.”
Despite his repeated affirmations of love and affection, Trump did not withhold harsh condemnations of Europe’s energy policy.
Europe ‘funding’ Ukraine war
Turning his attention to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Trump expressed discontent with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s continued refusal to participate in meaningful ceasefire negotiations.
He pointed a finger at China and India as the “primary funders of the ongoing war” for their uninterrupted purchase of Russian oil.
“But inexcusably, even NATO countries have not cut off much Russian energy and Russian energy products,” Trump said. “Which, as you know, I found out about two weeks ago — and I wasn’t happy.”
“Think of it,” he continued. “They’re funding the war against themselves. Who the hell ever heard of that one?”
Trump promised to bring Putin to the negotiating table and “stop the bloodshed” by deploying “a very strong round of powerful tariffs.”
“But for those tariffs to be effective, European nations, all of you are gathered here right now, would have to join us in adopting the exact same measures,” he warned.
The European Union has implemented several rounds of sanctions on Russian energy and imports since the invasion began three years ago. This has resulted in a 89% drop in imports from the Eastern European nation.

However, the EU has continued to purchase key resources from Russia, including oil, natural gas, steel, and fertilizer, due to insufficient supply trains from alternative sources.
During his speech, Trump announced that he would meet with European leaders on the sidelines of the conference to discuss minimizing this reliance and applying further pressure on Moscow.
