Former President Donald Trump’s Interview with Tucker Carlson Draws Massive Viewership
Former President Donald Trump’s recent interview with Tucker Carlson has captivated audiences, showcasing a unique approach to political messaging. Instead of opting for a traditional stage appearance, Trump released a prerecorded 46-minute interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
Despite criticism from Trump’s competitors, his interview garnered an astonishing number of views compared to other political events. Carlson’s post featuring the interview has already been viewed over 170 million times as of Thursday morning.
“We’ll get bigger ratings using this crazy forum that you are using than probably the debate,”
Trump confidently stated during his conversation with Carlson.
In addition to the impressive view count, the video has been reposted 175,000 times and received 590,000 likes. However, it’s important to note that these metrics only indicate how many times the post appeared in users’ news feeds, not necessarily how many people watched or completed the video.
This interview has brought a surge of attention to Carlson, surpassing previous metrics. When Carlson initially announced the exclusive release of the interview on X, it received over 137.7 million tweet views, but only 28.9 million video views. Subsequent episodes of the show experienced a decline in traffic, with the eighth episode, featuring a transgender man, receiving just 10.6 million tweet views and 3.8 million video views.
It’s worth mentioning that X previously allowed users to track video views independently, but this feature was removed from most versions of the platform in May.
Out of all Carlson’s interviews, the one with influencer Andrew Tate garnered the most views, reaching an impressive 107 million.
During his appearance on Carlson’s show, Trump took the opportunity to criticize his opponents in the 2024 campaign, referring to former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie as a “savage maniac” and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson as “weak and pathetic.”
On a separate note, Trump is expected to surrender at the Fulton County, Georgia, jail on Thursday. This comes after Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis indicted him and 18 others for violating the state’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
