Trump tries to stop Jeffrey Epstein questions in Cabinet meeting

The article reports on former President Donald Trump’s defensive reaction when questioned about his governance’s handling of the federal examination into Jeffrey epstein, particularly regarding Epstein’s alleged client list.Trump expressed frustration that Epstein continued to be a topic of discussion years after his death. The Department of Justice and FBI released a memo stating there was no evidence of Epstein blackmailing powerful individuals or that he was murdered, contradicting claims by some Trump officials who fueled conspiracy theories about Epstein’s death.

Attorney General Pam Bondi clarified that the so-called client list referenced previously refers to files already made public and addressed questions about missing surveillance footage from the night Epstein died, explaining that certain video segments are routinely reset.

Additionally, Trump commented on his contentious relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. The article also touches on Trump’s strained relationship with Elon Musk, who criticized Trump’s major legislation and sparked rumors about Epstein’s client list on social media before deleting the posts. Trump responded by considering action against Musk and criticizing Musk’s proposed third party.

Trump bristles at Jeffrey Epstein question as Bondi responds to ‘missing’ surveillance

President Donald Trump became defensive when asked about his administration’s handling of the federal government’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, particularly the deceased sex offender’s so-called client list.

“Are you still talking about Jeffrey Epstein? This guy’s been talked about for years,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday at the White House before a Cabinet meeting. “We have Texas, we have this, we have all of the things. Are people still talking about this guy, this creep? That is unbelievable.”

Trump’s Department of Justice and FBI caused confusion this week after they released a memo finding there was no evidence that Epstein blackmailed powerful men with his client list or that he was murdered.

The findings conflicted with Trump administration officials, including FBI Director Kash Patel and FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, stoking conspiracy theories before their respective nominations and confirmations that Epstein was killed to stop his client list from becoming public.

Then, in February, Attorney General Pam Bondi released Epstein files that were already available before telling Fox News his client list was “on her desk” to be reviewed.

On Tuesday, before Trump’s Cabinet meeting, Bondi told reporters she was referring to the Epstein files, along with documents related to the assassinations of former President John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King.

Bondi could not answer questions about Epstein being an intelligence agent for the United States or a foreign agency, with speculation that he could have worked for Israel‘s Mossad. However, she did answer questions concerning the missing minute from surveillance video outside Epstein’s jail cell on the night he died in 2019.

“The video was not conclusive, but the evidence prior to it was, showing he committed suicide,” she said. “There was a minute that was off the counter, and what we learned from the Bureau of Prisons is every year, every night, they redo that video … So every night the video is reset, and every night should have the same minute missing.”

During the informal press conference before his Cabinet meeting, Trump was also asked whether he would do anything to address his unhappiness with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as peace eludes him in his dealings with the Russia-Ukraine war.

“We get a lot of bullshit thrown at us from Putin, if you want to know the truth,” he said. “He’s very nice all the time, but it turns out to be meaningless.”

Trump’s Cabinet meeting on Tuesday was the sixth of his administration, roughly six months into his second term.

The meeting was the first without Elon Musk, who last week repeated his complaints about Trump’s signature legislation, the One Big Beautiful Act. Musk had encouraged rumors that Trump was on Epstein’s client list before deleting his post on his social media platform, X.

Last week, Musk promised primary challenges to lawmakers running for reelection in competitive states who supported Trump’s “insane” legislation, denying he was opposed to it because of its repeal of green energy, especially electric vehicle, tax credits.

In response, Trump expressed his openness to taking a “look” into the possibility of deporting Musk. The president also ripped Musk’s proposed third party, the America Party, as “ridiculous” to reporters last week before taking to his own social media platform, Truth Social, on Monday.

“I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails,’ essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks,” Trump said. “It is a Great Bill but, unfortunately for Elon, it eliminates the ridiculous Electric Vehicle (EV) Mandate, which would have forced everyone to buy an Electric Car in a short period of time… Additionally, Elon asked that one of his close friends run NASA and, while I thought his friend was very good, I was surprised to learn that he was a blue blooded Democrat, who had never contributed to a Republican before.”
