Report: Trump’s Target Letter Lists 3 Potential Violations in Election Overturning Attempts.

The Target⁢ Letter:‌ Trump’s‌ Potential Violations

The ⁤target letter⁣ that⁣ former President Donald⁢ Trump says‍ that‍ he ⁤received ⁢over the⁣ weekend in special counsel Jack ‌Smith’s federal criminal investigation ‌into his ‍alleged efforts to ⁣overturn the 2020 ‌presidential election mentions three statutes⁤ that the⁤ former⁣ president may ‍have⁢ violated.

According to ABC News,⁤ the ‌three ⁢federal statutes mentioned in the‌ letter ⁤are: conspiracy⁣ to‌ commit ⁣offense⁣ or to defraud the ‌United‌ States, ‍deprivation of‍ rights ‌under color of law, ‌and ‍tampering with a⁤ witness,‍ victim,⁣ or ⁣an ⁣informant.

The ⁤letter‌ does not provide⁤ any ‍specific ‍details on how prosecutors ‍believe‌ Trump may ‌have violated these⁣ laws.

Interestingly,‌ it seems that ⁢Trump is the ‍only one who has ⁤received‌ a ‌target ⁤letter, as ‍his allies ‍and lawyers have been reaching⁣ out to everyone in his circle⁤ who could ‍have‌ also received one.

Trump⁤ expressed‌ his‌ frustration on ‌social⁣ media, stating, ‍”Deranged Jack⁢ Smith, the⁣ prosecutor with⁢ Joe⁣ Biden’s DOJ, sent a⁢ letter (again,‌ it⁣ was Sunday night!) ‍stating that‍ I am‍ a‌ TARGET of the January ‍6th Grand Jury investigation, and ‍giving me⁢ a ‌very ⁣short 4 ⁤days‍ to ‌report ⁢to the Grand⁤ Jury,‍ which almost always⁤ means an⁣ Arrest⁢ and Indictment.”

Jack‌ Smith⁤ was‌ appointed⁢ by Attorney ‌General Merrick Garland‍ in November ⁢to‍ investigate⁢ Trump’s handling ‍of sensitive⁣ documents and his alleged‌ efforts to overturn the ‍election. The ⁢Washington ⁣grand‍ jury⁤ is believed to ⁢be examining Trump’s ⁤conduct⁣ between‍ the ⁢2020 election and‍ January 6, 2021.

The‌ grand ⁢jury, meeting in‌ Washington’s⁢ E. ⁢Barrett Prettyman U.S. Courthouse, has reportedly heard testimonies from⁤ Trump’s vice president, ‍Mike ⁤Pence, as well as Pence’s ‍former ‌chief ⁢of ⁢staff, Marc Short. Other ⁣individuals who‌ have⁣ appeared ⁢before the‍ grand jury include former Director ‌of ⁤the Office of ⁤National ⁤Intelligence John Ratcliffe,‍ White⁢ House lawyers ‌Patrick ‌Philbin‌ and ⁢Pat Cipollone, ⁣and ‍several others.

Greg Wilson‍ contributed ‍to ⁤this⁤ report.
