Trump stands firm on claim that ‘TDS’ was responsible for Rob Reiner’s death

President Donald Trump stood firm on Monday evening regarding controversial comments he made about the Sunday killing of director Rob Reiner.

Earlier Monday, Trump referred to the killing of Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, as a “very sad thing” before blaming Reiner’s own politics for the crime. The president claimed on Truth Social that the pair, believed to have been stabbed to death by Reiner’s adult son, had died because of “the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.”

Trump’s statement drew sharp criticism from Republicans on Capitol Hill Monday afternoon, but the president declined the opportunity to walk back his comments while speaking with reporters in the Oval Office later in the day.

“I wasn’t a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person, as far as Trump is concerned,” Trump countered.

The president claimed that Reiner was “one of the people behind” the Steele dossier, suggesting that being a vocal-Trump critic “hurt” Reiner’s career.

“He became like a deranged person, Trump derangement syndrome,” the president closed. “So I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all in any way, shape, or form. I thought he was very bad for our country.”
