In February, Trump controversially took control of the Kennedy Center by replacing all previous board members and appointing himself chairman. His administration included a $257 million spending bill for the center’s renovation. The Kennedy Center Honors are scheduled for december,and Trump is set to visit the center soon.

President Donald Trump appeared to be embracing renaming the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington after himself in comments about the Kennedy Center Honors awards.
“GREAT Nominees for the TRUMP/KENNEDY CENTER, whoops, I mean, KENNEDY CENTER, AWARDS,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform. “They will be announced Wednesday. Tremendous work is being done, and money being spent, on bringing it back to the absolute TOP LEVEL of luxury, glamour, and entertainment. It had fallen on hard times, physically, BUT WILL SOON BE MAKING A MAJOR COMEBACK!!! President DJT.”
Throughout his first term in office, Trump declined to attend the Kennedy Center Honors as many award recipients had criticized him.
Trump’s comment came as House Republicans proposed last month renaming the Kennedy Center’s opera house in the name of first lady Melania Trump. The White House has confirmed Trump will be visiting the Kennedy Center tomorrow morning.
