Trump says ‘NOT YET!’ to sending forces into Gaza to end Hamas

President Donald Trump isn’t ready to direct destructive military strikes against Hamas after the terrorist group violated its ceasefire with Israel.

Trump announced Tuesday that he will “NOT YET” impose force on Hamas with the hope it will “do what is right.” Hamas allegedly killed two Israeli soldiers in Rafah on Sunday, prompting the country to retaliate with strikes.

“Numerous of our NOW GREAT ALLIES in the Middle East, and areas surrounding the Middle East, have explicitly and strongly, with great enthusiasm, informed me that they would welcome the opportunity, at my request, to go into GAZA with a heavy force and ‘straighten our Hamas’ if Hamas continues to act badly, in violation of their agreement with us,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

“The love and spirit for the Middle East has not been seen like this in a thousand years! It is a beautiful thing to behold! I told these countries, and Israel, ‘NOT YET!’ There is still hope that Hamas will do what is right. If they do not, an end to Hamas will be FAST, FURIOUS, & BRUTAL!” he added.

Trump brokered a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel earlier this month. The president said Monday that the ceasefire was still in effect and it was “going to be very peaceful with Hamas.”

Other Trump-brokered ceasefires around the world have initially seen violations before, in several cases, a more lasting peace. India and Pakistan traded strikes after their ceasefire, as did Israel and Iran, in addition to Rwanda and Congo.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed the ceasefire was still in effect even after the strikes, saying it began “renewed enforcement of the ceasefire” after the military action. Officials in Washington worry that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will endanger the ceasefire.

Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance traveled to Israel on Tuesday to meet with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and senior White House adviser Jared Kushner for more talks about the ceasefire.

He’s scheduled to meet with Netanyahu and Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem on Wednesday.

Gaza accused Israel last week of violating the ceasefire dozens of times, killing over 40 civilians and wounding nearly 150.

“These violations have included crimes of direct gunfire against civilians, deliberate shelling and targeting, and the arrest of a number of civilians, reflecting the occupation’s continued policy of aggression despite the declared end of the war,” a statement from Gaza’s media office said.

Early tensions from the ceasefire resulted in Hamas executing men in Gaza City, possibly as a measure to maintain power as rival gangs wage war in the area.

Trump said last week that Hamas’s killings in Gaza “was not the deal” and the United States would be forced to “go in and kill them” if the executions continued.
