Trump says Alex Pretti acted ‘crazed and out of control’ in new video

President Donald Trump called Alex Pretti, the anti-ICE protester who was fatally shot by Border Patrol agents on Saturday in Minneapolis, Minnesota, an “agitator, and perhaps insurrectionist” in a social media post on early Friday morning. The president’s comments come as a new video was released this week showing Pretti acting violently and unruly while protesting illegal immigration enforcement operations in Minnesota.

In the video, which was filmed at a protest eleven days before his fatal shooting on Saturday, Pretti was seen yelling, screaming, and kicking a government vehicle, leaving damage to its taillight. He also spat at law enforcement officials. Trump described Pretti as acting “crazed and out of control.”

“Agitator and, perhaps, insurrectionist, Alex Pretti’s stock has gone way down with the just released video of him screaming and spitting in the face of a very calm and under control ICE Officer, and then crazily kicking in a new and very expensive government vehicle, so hard and violent, in fact, that the taillight broke off in pieces,” Trump said in a Truth Social post. “It was quite a display of abuse and anger, for all to see, crazed and out of control. The ICE Officer was calm and cool, not an easy thing to be under those circumstances! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”

The recording, released on Wednesday by The News Movement, showed Pretti at an anti-ICE protest in Minneapolis on Jan. 13. Pretti gets into a verbal confrontation with a federal officer before the officer turns around and goes into an SUV.

ICE OFFICERS RECEIVE NEW DIRECTIVE NOT TO ENGAGE WITH ‘AGITATORS’ IN MINNESOTA

“Assault me, motherf***er!” Pretti is heard screaming. “F****** trash!” he called the federal agents.

Pretti repeated the insults multiple times before kicking the SUV and shattering its taillight. The vehicle stops, and a federal officer exits, who grabs Pretti and pushes him to the ground. After scuffling a bit, Pretti frees himself, and the officer does not pursue him. What appeared to be a gun is also visibly tucked into his waistband above the back pocket of his pants.

As part of the fallout from Pretti’s fatal shooting on Jan. 24, Trump made changes to the leadership of illegal immigration enforcement operations in Minnesota. He summoned border czar Tom Homan to spearhead federal enforcement activities and, in an attempt to deescalate.
