Trump opposes Republicans moving FBI HQ from D.C.

Former President ‍Donald ‌Trump Disagrees with ⁣Moving FBI Headquarters to Alabama

During an ‌interview‌ with ⁣Maria ⁣Bartiromo ⁤on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning ‌Futures,” former President Donald Trump expressed ⁣his ⁢disagreement with the idea ⁣of relocating the new FBI⁢ headquarters ⁣to Alabama. Instead, he advocated for the new building‌ to be⁢ situated right ⁣next⁢ to⁢ the Department of ‍Justice.

When‍ asked⁤ about ⁤how the FBI‍ should be ‍reformed, Bartiromo mentioned ⁣the Republican proposal⁢ to move the headquarters out‍ of Washington and establish it ⁤in ⁣Alabama. ⁤Trump ⁤responded,⁤ “I had‌ a ⁣plan‌ to‌ take down the FBI building and build a brand new one in Washington because I believe⁢ the FBI⁣ should ‌be close to⁣ the DOJ if they’re all ‌honest people.”

Trump further ⁣explained his stance, criticizing the idea‍ of moving the headquarters to a different state⁣ like Virginia. ‌He‍ highlighted ‌the potential⁢ environmental and traffic issues⁢ that would arise ‍from such ‌a move. In ⁣contrast, he‌ favored renovating the⁢ existing location or ⁢constructing ‍a new⁣ building ‍near the Department of Justice, ⁢emphasizing the benefits of proximity and ⁤collaboration between the two entities.

Bartiromo pointed out that the FBI’s proposed⁢ new facility ⁤could cost‌ nearly $4 billion and⁢ potentially be ‌larger than‍ the Pentagon. ⁣Trump expressed his preference for a building ⁣close to the DOJ, citing‌ the⁤ available ‌land and resources. He acknowledged ⁣that there ‌might⁣ be some disruption ‌during construction but ⁤believed ⁤it would⁤ be a⁢ more ⁣cost-effective solution. Additionally,⁣ he⁢ mentioned that ‌FBI personnel⁣ also supported the idea ⁣of ‍proximity to the Department⁤ of Justice.

While‌ Trump expressed his⁢ love ⁢for Alabama,⁣ he maintained that the FBI building⁣ should be‌ located next‍ to the DOJ. He emphasized the‍ importance of the‍ FBI and the Department of Justice⁢ working together, ⁤suggesting that being able to walk ⁢across the street⁢ would facilitate their collaboration. ⁤Currently,‍ with ⁤the⁣ proposed ⁢move⁣ to Virginia, individuals⁣ would have to endure long commutes ⁢in heavy traffic.
