Washington Examiner chief political correspondent Byron York argues that the opposition to President Donald Trump has struggled to gain traction during his second term. Ahead of the No Kings nationwide protest planned for March 28, which targets immigration enforcement, York criticizes the opposition’s ability to mobilize, noting that organizers say more than 3,000 demonstrations across all 50 states are planned. He told Fox News that the opposition hasn’t been able to “get their feet under them” and is unlikely to be more effective than previous protests. York also contrasts current anti‑opposition activity with past anti‑war demonstrations, suggesting the movement has been unusually quiet in recent weeks.

Washington Examiner chief political correspondent Byron York said opposition movements have had a “hard time” getting “traction” during President Donald Trump’s second administration.

York criticized the opposition’s movements ahead of a nationwide “No Kings” protest scheduled for March 28. This will be the third protest organized by the group since Trump took office for his second term.

“There was all sorts of stuff going on in the opposition to Trump, and basically what has happened since Trump took office in January of last year is he’s essentially overpowered the opposition,” York said on Fox News’s Ingraham Angle on Friday.

No Kings has organized nationwide protests in response to the Trump administration’s actions, arguing the president is abusing his power and deploying “authoritarian” tactics. The upcoming protest will focus on the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement.

There are over 3,000 demonstrations organized across all 50 states for the March 28 nationwide protest, according to organizers.

York said the opposition hasn’t been able to “get their feet under them” to organize demonstrations to the same scale as the first Trump administration.

“I don’t think [the No Kings rallies are] going to be any more effective than the other ones,” York said.

York questioned where the anti-war movement was in response to the United States’ military operation in Iran, comparing it to the demonstrations organized leading up to the Iraq War.

“[During the Iraq War], there was a significant expression of anti-war sentiment from that part of the political spectrum,” York said. “But [No Kings has] really been pretty quiet in these really, really consequential weeks we’ve had.”
