Trump’s campaign offers quick access to Trump mugshot merchandise.
The Trump Campaign Capitalizes on Mugshot Merchandise
The Trump campaign wasted no time in turning former President Donald Trump’s booking photo into a lucrative opportunity. Shortly after his arrest and booking at the Fulton County Jail on charges related to the 2020 presidential election, the campaign’s website began selling a range of merchandise featuring Trump’s mugshot.
Within hours, supporters could purchase t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, mugs, beer Koozies, and bumper stickers adorned with the infamous image. The caption on the mugshot products defiantly declares, “NEVER SURRENDER!”
The merchandise is sold by Trump Save America, a joint fundraising committee for Donald J. Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and Save America. Other vendors also wasted no time in setting up shops to sell their own versions of the mugshot merchandise.
A Historic Mugshot
Trump’s booking photo holds a unique place in history as the first-ever mugshot taken of a former or current U.S. president. Although he had been previously arrested in a separate criminal case, this was the first time Trump had a mugshot taken.
The former president now faces charges in four separate criminal cases, including 13 counts in Georgia, such as racketeering, fraud, making false statements, and asking a public official to violate their oath of office.
Released on $200,000 bond, Trump agreed to certain restrictions, including refraining from posting on social media about co-defendants or witnesses. However, following his arrest, he broke his silence on X, formerly known as Twitter, for the first time in over two years.
Trump’s Fundraising Appeal
On his campaign fundraising site, Trump posted his mugshot along with a defiant message. He claimed to have been arrested “despite having committed NO CRIME” and vowed to never surrender in his mission to save America.
While urging supporters who are struggling not to donate, he appealed to those who are able to contribute to the cause. Trump also criticized the Georgia authorities for involving his co-defendants in the case, arguing that their lives were being destroyed unjustly.
As the 2024 GOP presidential nomination race heats up, Trump currently holds a commanding 41-point lead, according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls.
