Former President Donald Trump Learns Who Will Testify Against Him in Federal Case

Former President Donald Trump received a significant update on Wednesday regarding the federal case involving his handling of classified national defense information. The Department of Justice revealed that it has provided “grand jury testimony of witnesses who will testify for the government at the trial of this case” as part of the discovery process.

No further details have been released regarding the identity of the witnesses or the content of their testimony.

Protective Order Blocks Trump from Disclosing Evidence

A federal judge issued a protective order on Monday, preventing Trump from disclosing any evidence provided by prosecutors to his defense team during the discovery process.

“The Discovery Materials, along with any information derived therefrom, shall not be disclosed to the public or the news media, or disseminated on any news or social media platform, without prior notice to and consent of the United States or approval of the Court,” stated Federal Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart in the order.

The order also prohibits Trump and his team from disclosing the material in any public filing or open court without notice to the United States or prior approval from the Court.

Secure Custody and Destruction of Documents

According to the order, all documents must remain in the custody of the defense counsel in a secure manner. Furthermore, all material must be returned to the U.S. government or completely destroyed within 90 days after the conclusion of the case.

The defendants are not allowed to retain any copies of the material, but they are permitted to take notes, which must be securely stored.
