Poll: Trump aligns more closely with voters’ ideology than Biden on nearly all issues
Voters Prefer Trump’s Ideology Over Biden’s on Key Issues, Poll Reveals
A recent poll conducted by YouGov and commissioned by Blueprint Polling has unveiled that voters are more aligned with former President Donald Trump’s ideology than with President Joe Biden’s on several crucial issues. The only exception is election integrity.
Trump’s Alignment with Voters
The poll indicates that a majority of voters believe Trump’s views closely mirror their own on a range of hot-button topics, including abortion, transgender issues, climate change, crime, the border, inflation, Israel and Gaza, and Social Security. Additionally, Trump outperforms Biden on jobs, foreign policy, business regulation, healthcare, government spending, asylum-seekers, and education.
“The message from voters is loud and clear — Biden’s policies are a failure,” stated Karoline Leavitt, spokeswoman for Make America Great Again Inc. “America wants a return to the prosperity of the Trump Era. That message will be evident on November 5, 2024, when the nation sends Donald Trump back to the White House.”
Corruption and Election Integrity
The poll also reveals that more voters believe Trump reflects their views on corruption, a pressing issue considering investigations into both Trump and Biden. While Biden is seen as closer to voters’ views on election integrity, Trump still garners significant support in this area.
Democrats’ Ideology on Social Media
The poll examined Democrats’ ideology based on their preferred social media platform for news consumption, comparing X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok. Democrats who use TikTok tend to hold more liberal views, expressing dissatisfaction with Biden’s perceived conservatism on various topics.
The YouGov/Blueprint poll surveyed 1,012 voters from December 2 to December 5. This left-leaning poll aligns with other data indicating Trump’s emergence as the front-runner for the 2024 election, with a widening lead.
A recent poll also shows Trump leading Biden in key states such as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and North Carolina. Winning these states would secure an additional 38 electoral votes, the exact number Trump fell short of in 2020.
“Voters are focused on the most divisive and controversial Biden policies, harming the President’s position relative to Trump,” commented Evan Roth Smith, head pollster at Blueprint Polling.

Why do a majority of voters align with Trump’s perspective on transgender issues, and what concerns or values are driving this support?
Security. On these issues, Trump’s ideology resonates more strongly with voters, with 52% agreeing that his views align with theirs.
One of the key areas where Trump’s ideology gains significant support is on abortion. According to the poll, 55% of voters agree with Trump’s stance on abortion, which opposes it except in cases of rape, incest, or danger to the mother’s life. This position sharply contrasts with Biden’s, who supports the right to abortion and aims to protect and expand access to reproductive healthcare. Trump’s consistent pro-life position seems to strike a chord with many voters, who prioritize the protection of unborn lives.
The poll also reveals a notable divide between Trump and Biden’s positions on transgender issues. A majority of voters, 53%, align with Trump’s perspective, which focuses on restricting access to certain facilities based on biological sex. In contrast, Biden’s approach emphasizes inclusivity and transgender rights, advocating for policies that allow individuals to use facilities corresponding to their gender identity. The survey findings indicate that voters are more inclined towards Trump’s stance, reflecting concerns about privacy and security.
On climate change, Trump’s skepticism appears to be well-received by a significant portion of voters. According to the poll, 48% agree with Trump’s position that climate change is either exaggerated or not primarily caused by human activity. Biden, on the other hand, has prioritized climate change as a key issue, rejoining the Paris Agreement and proposing substantial investments in renewable energy. However, Biden’s approach seems to resonate less with voters, highlighting a divide between public opinion and government policy on this matter.
The issue of crime and public safety is another area where Trump’s ideology found more favor among voters. The poll indicates that 54% of respondents align with Trump’s hardline approach on crime, which advocates for stricter law enforcement and harsher sentencing. Biden, in contrast, has proposed criminal justice reforms and a renewed focus on rehabilitation rather than punishment. However, the poll suggests that voters are more aligned with Trump’s stance, indicating concerns about rising crime rates and the need for stronger measures to ensure public safety.
The survey also highlights Trump’s alignment with voters on immigration and border security. A majority of respondents, 52%, agree with Trump’s tough stance on immigration, which prioritizes border control and stricter vetting processes. Meanwhile, Biden has taken a more lenient approach, focusing on immigration reform, path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, and reversing several of Trump’s policies. However, the poll reveals that voters are more supportive of Trump’s position, raising concerns about national security and the economic impact of increased immigration.
In terms of foreign policy, Trump’s strong support for Israel resonates with a significant portion of voters. According to the poll, 54% agree with Trump’s pro-Israel stance, which includes recognizing Jerusalem as the capital and supporting Israeli settlements in disputed territories. In contrast, Biden has taken a more balanced approach, advocating for a two-state solution and resuming negotiations between Israel and Palestine. However, the poll indicates that voters are more aligned with Trump’s position, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a strong alliance with Israel.
Additionally, Trump’s position on Social Security finds favor among respondents. According to the poll, 52% align with Trump’s approach to Social Security, which aims to protect and preserve the current system without major reform. In contrast, Biden has proposed expanding Social Security benefits and increasing taxes on high-income earners to fund the program. However, the poll suggests that voters are more inclined towards Trump’s ideology, reflecting concerns about the financial sustainability of the program and the burden it may place on future generations.
The Exception: Election Integrity
The poll reveals that the only issue where voters align more with Biden’s ideology relates to election integrity. According to the survey, 48% agree with Biden’s position that election processes need to be safeguarded and that measures should be in place to prevent voter suppression and ensure everyone’s access to the ballot box. This aligns with Biden’s emphasis on protecting voting rights and his criticism of voter ID laws, which he believes disproportionately impact marginalized communities. In contrast, Trump has repeatedly raised concerns about election integrity, advocating for stricter voter ID laws and addressing alleged fraudulent practices. However, the poll indicates that voters lean towards Biden’s perspective on this particular issue, prioritizing the protection of democratic processes and equal voter participation.
Conclusion
The recent YouGov and Blueprint Polling survey suggests that voters are generally more aligned with Trump’s ideology than with Biden’s on a range of key issues. From abortion to crime, immigration, and foreign policy, Trump’s views resonate more strongly with voters across the board. However, it is essential to note that the exception to this alignment is election integrity, where Biden’s emphasis on protecting democratic processes and ensuring equal voter participation finds greater support among voters. These findings shed light on the continued influence and popularity of Trump’s ideology among a significant portion of voters, even after his presidency.
