Trump defends Trump’s comments on ‘piggy’ and executing Dems
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended President Donald Trump amid his recent controversial remarks directed at the press and Democratic lawmakers. Following an incident where Trump called a Bloomberg reporter “piggy” during a Q&A on Air force One, and after Trump labeled Democratic veterans urging military members to disobey unlawful orders as “seditious” and “punishable by death” on Truth Social, Leavitt addressed these issues during a White House briefing. she argued that the Democratic lawmakers’ actions undermine the military chain of command and stressed that Trump’s blunt interaction style is a reason for his reelection, framing it as honesty and clarity. Leavitt also contrasted Trump’s openness with the previous administration’s handling of the press, asserting that Trump provides unprecedented access to reporters.
Leavitt does damage control after ‘frustrated’ Trump lashes out at reporter and calls for executing Democrats
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt covered for President Donald Trump on Thursday, seeking to spin recent attacks launched by the president against the press and Democratic lawmakers.
Over the weekend, Trump grew visibly frustrated with a Bloomberg reporter flying on Air Force One, shutting down a line of questions by snapping, “Quiet, piggy,” at the reporter in question before moving on with the Q&A.
And on Thursday, Trump responded to reporting from the Washington Examiner about a group of Democratic lawmakers urging military service members to disobey orders from the administration that are illegal, claiming on Truth Social that the act was seditious and punishable by death. The president also shared a number of responses to the story calling for the lawmakers to be questioned to be executed, including one comment that read “HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD.”
Leavitt faced questions on Trump’s Truth Social posts near the top of her Thursday briefing with reporters at the White House, where she defended the president’s comments and sought to cast blame back on the lawmakers.
“Many in this room want to talk about the president’s response, but not what brought the president to responding in this way,” Leavitt said. “You have sitting members of the United States Congress who conspired together to orchestrate a video message to members of the United States military, to active-duty service members, to members of the national security apparatus, encouraging them to defy the president’s lawful orders. The sanctity of our military rests on the chain of command, and if that chain of command is broken, it can lead to people getting killed. It can lead to chaos, and that’s what these members of Congress who swore an oath to abide by the Constitution are essentially encouraging.
“These members knew what they were doing. They were leaning into their credentials as former members of our military, as veterans, as former members of the national security apparatus, to signal to people serving under this commander in chief, Donald Trump, that you can defy him and you can betray your oath of office,” Leavitt continued, adding later in the briefing that “if this were Republican members of Congress who were encouraging members of the military and members of our United States government to defy orders from the president and from the chain of command, this entire room would be up in arms.”
‘Frank and honest’ piggy comment
As for Trump’s personal attack against a reporter on Air Force One, Leavitt said simply that Trump is “very frank and honest with everyone in this room.”
“I think it’s one of the many reasons that the American people reelected this president because of his frankness, and he calls out fake news when he sees it,” she continued. “He gets frustrated with reporters when you lie about him, when you spread fake news about him and his administration.”
Leavitt additionally claimed that Trump “is the most transparent president in history, and he gives all of you in this room, as you all know, unprecedented access.”

“The president being frank and open and honest to your faces, rather than hiding behind your backs, is frankly a lot more respectful than what you saw in the last administration, where you had a president who lied to your face and then didn’t speak to you for weeks and hid upstairs and didn’t take your questions,” she concluded.
