Trump considering ditching his Tesla after breakup with Musk

President Donald Trump is contemplating selling his Tesla Model S following a public fallout with former advisor Elon Musk. The vehicle, which was parked near the White House, might potentially be on the chopping block as Trump has not finalized his decision. Sources from the White House indicated Trump’s uncertainty about the car’s future, with some staff questioning if anyone would even want it after the recent altercations between Trump and Musk. The tension escalated after Musk criticized Trump’s proposed tax and spending bill, leading to Trump’s accusations against musk and a threat to revoke his government contracts. Musk retaliated by making serious accusations against Trump and voiced calls for his impeachment. Despite attempts by Musk to communicate with Trump post-breakup, the president has stated he has no intentions of reaching out to him.

President Donald Trump is considering unloading the Tesla he purchased earlier this year following Thursday’s very public breakup with former adviser Elon Musk.

White House officials told the Washington Examiner that the president has yet to make a final decision regarding the vehicle, a red Model S that was parked between the West Wing and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building Friday morning.

The White House declined to say if Trump was considering gifting the car to a staffer, with one staffer questioning whether anyone would “want it” after Thursday’s blowup.

Trump called multiple news outlets Friday morning and said he has no plans to speak to Musk, even though the latter spent Thursday night and Friday morning trying to schedule a call with the president.

Musk departed his role as a special government employee last Friday. At the time, Trump presented Musk with a golden key, and the pair suggested that the tech billionaire would continue serving as an informal adviser to the president.

That all changed Thursday afternoon. Musk had spent the week slowly ramping up his criticism of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a massive tax and spending bill the president is looking to muscle through Congress before July 4.

However, during his Oval Office meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Trump accused Musk of having “Trump derangement syndrome” and credited his attacks on the bill to provisions included that would roll back former President Joe Biden’s tax incentives for electric vehicles. Later in the day, Trump floated revoking all of Musk’s nearly $40 billion in government contracts.

Musk responded by going fully nuclear, accusing the president of being named in the unreleased portions of the federal government’s files on sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein and amplifying calls to impeach Trump.
