Trump celebrates ‘old and broken political hack’ Pelosi’s retirement
The article reports on former President Donald Trump’s reaction to Nancy pelosi’s announcement of her retirement from Congress, calling her an “old and broken political hack.” Pelosi, who served as Speaker of the House during part of Trump’s presidency and was involved in efforts to impeach him twice, declared she will leave Congress when her term ends in January 2027. Trump criticized pelosi for allegedly profiting illegally from the stock market and harming America. Pelosi, in her farewell message, urged San Francisco to continue fighting for democratic ideals. The article also highlights the longstanding public clashes between Trump and Pelosi, including disputes over border security leading to a government shutdown and disagreements about the deployment of the National Guard during the January 6 Capitol riot, with both sides blaming each other for security failures.
Trump celebrates ‘old and broken political hack’ Nancy Pelosi’s retirement
President Donald Trump is thankful to see Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) retire from government, and sent her a parting shot Friday morning by calling her an “old and broken political hack.”
Pelosi was House speaker for a portion of Trump’s second term and wanted to impeach the president twice. The 85-year-old announced her retirement from Congress on Thursday.
“Nancy Pelosi, the old and broken political hack who Impeached me twice and lost, is finally calling it ‘quits.’ She illegally made a fortune in the Stock Market, ripped off the American Public, and was a disaster for America. I’m glad to see the stench of Nancy Pelosi go!!!” he wrote on Truth Social.
Pelosi, who has served in Congress since 1987 and has twice served as House speaker, said she will leave Congress when her term expires in January 2027. She urged San Francisco to keep fighting after she leaves Congress.
“We have always led the way, and now we must continue to do so by remaining full participants in our democracy, and fighting for the American ideals we hold dear,” she said.
“As we go forward, my message to the city I love is this: San Francisco, know your power,” Pelosi added.
Trump and Pelosi had many public fights over the years. One of the most notable came right before Pelosi’s second term as House Speaker in 2019. Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) feuded with Trump and then-Vice President Mike Pence in the Oval Office over border security, which led to a government shutdown.
The president also verbally battled with Pelosi for years over not deploying the National Guard to protect the Capitol during the Jan. 6 riots. He often said that he offered the National Guard to Pelosi, but that she turned it down.
A video showed Pelosi saying she took responsibility for not having the necessary security at the Capitol on that day. A reporter recently asked Pelosi about not sending the National Guard.
“Shut up,” she said. “I did not refuse the National Guard. The president [Trump] didn’t send it.”
NANCY PELOSI RETIREMENT SETS OFF RACE TO FILL DEMOCRATIC TITAN’S SHOES
Trump has blamed Pelosi for the lack of security at the Capitol, and said missing files from the House Jan. 6 Committee would’ve exonerated him.
“It showed that Pelosi was in charge of Security at the Capitol, and she rejected my offer of 10,000 Soldiers or National Guard Troops prior to January 6th. Had she accepted, January 6th would not have existed!” he wrote in a Truth Social post last year.
