Trump accuses Biden of funding Hamas attack in Israel.
Former President Donald Trump Blames President Biden and Iran for Hamas Attack on Israel
Former President Donald Trump has pointed fingers at President Joe Biden and his prisoner exchange with Iran as the cause of the recent Hamas attack on Israel. Speaking before a crowd in Waterloo, Iowa, Trump claimed that $6 billion, previously held up in sanctions, was released and made available to Iran through the prisoner trade in September. He emphasized that Iran is a known funder of Hamas.

“I would not be surprised if part of that tremendous wealth went into watching all of this aggression,” Trump expressed to the crowd, suggesting that the released funds may have contributed to the attack.
Trump further asserted that such attacks, along with conflicts in Ukraine and Chinese aggression towards Taiwan, would not have occurred under his leadership. He also criticized the perception of the United States as having a “grossly corrupt and incompetent president.”
The White House had decided to unfreeze $6 billion in frozen Iranian oil revenue for humanitarian purposes as part of a prisoner exchange in August.
The White House National Security Council, however, denies any connection between the released funds and the Hamas conflict. NSC spokeswoman Adriene Watson stated, “Not a single cent from these funds has been spent, and when it is spent, it can only be spent on things like food and medicine for the Iranian people. These funds have nothing to do with the horrific attacks today, and this is not the time to spread disinformation.”
Despite these claims, Republican candidates have used the $6 billion figure to place blame on the Biden administration for the Hamas attack. Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) stated in a video, “Iran has helped fund this war against Israel, and Joe Biden’s policies that have gone easy on Iran have helped to fill their coffers. Israel is now paying the price for those policies.”

President Biden has condemned the Hamas attack as an “appalling assault” against Israel and labeled the Iran-supported group as “terrorists.”
What is Trump’s argument regarding the impact of Biden’s approach to Iran on the support for extremist groups and terrorist activities?
Med that Biden’s handling of negotiations with Iran, specifically the release of prisoners, has emboldened terrorist organizations like Hamas.
Trump argued that his administration’s tough stance on Iran, through the withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal and imposing economic sanctions, had effectively restrained the country’s support for extremist groups. In contrast, he claimed that Biden’s approach of re-engagement with Iran and willingness to make concessions has created a more permissive environment for terrorist activities.
The former President further highlighted Iran’s longstanding association with Hamas, noting that the country has been a major supporter of the group for years. According to Trump, the transfer of prisoners as part of Biden’s negotiations with Iran has inadvertently provided Hamas with more resources and encouragement to carry out attacks against Israel.
Trump’s remarks come in the wake of intensified clashes between Israel and Hamas, with the latter firing thousands of rockets towards Israeli cities and the former responding with force. The recent violence has added fuel to the long-standing conflict between the two sides, resulting in a significant loss of civilian lives and widespread destruction in the Gaza Strip.
While Trump did not explicitly blame Biden for Hamas’ attack, he made it clear that he holds the current President partly responsible due to his policy decisions regarding Iran. These comments reflect Trump’s ongoing criticism of Biden’s foreign policy approach, particularly his tenuous stance on the Iran nuclear deal.
Biden’s administration has voiced its commitment to exploring diplomatic solutions to address Iran’s nuclear capabilities and regional influence. They maintain that re-entering the nuclear deal, if Iran returns to compliance, is crucial to preventing the country from obtaining nuclear weapons.
In response to Trump’s assertions, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki stated that the current administration does not view the exchange of prisoners as a contributing factor to the recent violence between Israel and Hamas. She emphasized that the focus should be on de-escalating the situation and finding a path towards a ceasefire.
As the conflict intensifies, the international community has called for an immediate de-escalation and dialogue to find a lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Various countries, including the United States, have expressed concern over civilian casualties and urge both parties to prioritize the protection of innocent lives.
While the blame game unfolds between former President Trump and President Biden, the critical goal should be promoting peace, stability, and the preservation of human life in the region. It is important for world leaders and stakeholders to work towards finding a peaceful resolution that addresses the root causes of the conflict and ensures the safety and well-being of all parties involved.
As the situation remains fluid, the international community must unite in supporting efforts for peace and stability. Regardless of differing opinions on policy approaches, it is crucial to prioritize dialogue, cooperation, and empathy in order to bring an end to the violence and work towards a long-lasting and sustainable solution in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
