Tropical Storm Harold Makes Landfall on South Texas Coast
Tropical Storm Harold has made landfall on the South Texas coast, bringing with it the potential for strong winds and heavy rainfall. Wind gusts of up to 50 mph (80 km/h) are expected in areas along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Forecasters predict that the storm will produce 2 to 4 inches (5 to 10 centimeters) of rain in South Texas, with isolated amounts of up to 6 inches (15 centimeters) possible through Wednesday.
In Mexico, rainfall amounts of 4 to 6 inches (10 to 15 centimeters) are forecast, with some areas expected to receive up to 10 inches (25 centimeters) in the state of northern Coahuila and northern Nuevo Leon.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the United States, Tropical Storm Hilary is making its way across the Southwest towards the Rocky Mountains. In Southern California, crews are working tirelessly to rescue nursing home residents who have been trapped by mud and water.
Hilary initially made landfall as a hurricane on Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula, causing widespread flooding and resulting in one fatality before weakening into a tropical storm.
