Top Dems seek Biden replacements, say he won’t run.

Top Democrats Reach Out to Rising Stars Amid Speculation About Biden’s Re-Election

According to a report by CNN, top Democrats and donors have been engaging with potential replacements for President Joe Biden, signaling doubts about his re-election campaign. The discussions have taken place as Biden faces challenges during his tenure in the White House.

Recent polls have indicated that Biden is struggling against prominent Republican candidates, including former President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

These influential Democrats, who are making the calls to prospective candidates, are conveying a message contrary to Biden’s public statements and campaign launch. They assert that despite his claims, the 80-year-old President will not actually run for re-election.

Biden’s team has strongly refuted these claims, emphasizing his commitment to running and his serious approach to campaign preparations.

Gavin Newsom Emerges as a Prominent Democrat

Amid Biden’s setbacks, California Governor Gavin Newsom has been actively raising his national profile. Newsom, aged 55, has been taking jabs at Governor DeSantis, featured in a special interview on Fox News with Sean Hannity, and has allocated millions from his 2022 gubernatorial campaign to support fellow Democrats in 2024. Additionally, he plans to visit red states to bolster Democratic turnout.

Concerns Over Biden’s Campaign Pace

CNN’s sources, including senior Democrat advisers, have expressed apprehension about the sluggish pace of Biden’s campaign. However, some Democrats still believe that voters will be motivated by their disdain for Trump rather than their admiration for Biden. Prominent Democrat strategist Lis Smith suggests that “a lot of enthusiasm will come from voting against Republicans.”

Exit polling conducted by Morning Consult, a source often cited by the Trump campaign, revealed that in the 2020 presidential election, 44% of Biden voters cast their ballots as a vote against Trump. In contrast, only 22% of Trump voters did so as a vote against Biden.
