Tiffany Haddish Says She Might Have ‘Some Kids’ From Eggs She Donated Years Ago
Comedic actress Tiffany Haddish may have some children floating out in the world due to eggs she donated years ago.
Though the 41-year-old actress still has no children of her own, she has been taking parenting classes so that she can adopt a child soon. Speaking with E!, she revealed that she may have “some kids” already.
“Here goes something everybody don’t know, I’m gonna tell you: When I was 21, I was really hard up for some money and I gave up a bunch of eggs,” she said. “So who knows, I might got some kids out here in these streets.”
“I doubt it, though, because I never got the bonus. Maybe somewhere though, in cryo somewhere,” she added.
When it comes to her possibly getting pregnant, Haddish said it would be an act of God because she has “taken the precautions to protect me.”
“I’m taking parenting classes now to adopt,” Haddish said. “I’m looking at [age] five and up – really like seven. I want them to be able to know how to use the restroom on their own and talk.”
“I want them to know that I put in the work and I wanted them,” she added.
Though Haddish has previously donated eggs, she will not undergo surrogacy.
“I don’t want to pay nobody to carry my baby neither, because then I have to go through the process of giving myself injections,” she said.
Last year, during the Black Lives Matter protests and the riots that followed, Haddish said that racism made her afraid to have children, fearing they could be “hunted or killed.”
“I’m a little older, and people are always like, ‘You gonna have a baby? When are you gonna have some babies?’” the 40-year-old Haddish said on Carmelo Anthony’s YouTube series “What’s In Your Glass.” “There’s a part of me that would like to do that, and I always make up these excuses like, ‘Oh, I need a million dollars in the bank before I [do that], I need this, I need that.’ But really, it’s like, I would hate to give birth to someone that looks like me knowing that they’re gonna be hunted or killed. Like, why would I put someone through that?”
“I am not a fearful person, but, like, I have watched many of my friends — not many, but more than two — of my friends growing up be killed by police officers, and it makes you feel like, ‘Dang, as a black person, we’re being hunted,’” she continued. “And I’ve always felt like that. We’re hunted, and we’re slaughtered. And it’s like they get this license to kill us, and that’s not okay.”
Carmelo Anthony said that being a father to black children amid racism is “scary to even think about.” Haddish said that not having such a thought is a luxury for white people.
“And white people don’t have to think about that, that’s something they don’t have to think about,” Haddish said. “And [so I talk] about that, and how we have to come together as a community and work as a unit. And maybe we don’t all agree on the same things, but we need to just find some common ground and move forward as human beings.”
