Washington Examiner commentary writer Tiana Lowe Doescher said it was “propaganda” to accuse Israel of genocide in Gaza.
“I mean, the genocide smear was not just an untruth,” she said Tuesday on Newsmax’s Chris Plante: The Right Squad. “It was an intentional method of propaganda in order to galvanize the world against Israel.”
Israel was accused of genocide within a month of its response to a terrorist attack on Oct. 7, 2023, that killed over 1,200 people and resulted in over a hundred hostages. The Gaza Health Ministry, which is controlled by Hamas and does not distinguish between civilians and combatants, reported that over 60,000 people have been killed during the conflict.
The International Criminal Court issued warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes last year. Hamas leaders, including Yahya Sinwar, Ismail Haniyeh, and Mohammed Deif, were reported dead at the time the warrants were issued, but the ICC issued a warrant for Deif as well in case he was still alive.
Lowe Doescher rejected the idea that Jews in Israel were expected by critics “to allow themselves to be genocided while being smeared as the perpetrators.”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) broke with her party earlier this year by referring to the conflict in Gaza as a “genocide.” She also called for her colleagues in the House to stop funding Israel ahead of the September government funding deadline. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) became the only senator to refer to the conflict as a genocide last month.
“Going forward, the most important thing that Trump did was get everyone in the region to be a stakeholder, because the Saudis will go in there and they will show what a lie this was and how complicit international actors, Chinese on TikTok, propaganda on X was,” Lowe Doescher added.

President Donald Trump’s peace deal includes the disarmament of Hamas and allows its members who give up their arms to seek amnesty. In return, there has so far been a swift ceasefire and aid delivery. However, the Israeli government is withholding half the number of humanitarian aid trucks originally set to flow into Gaza due to Hamas’s slow release of the deceased hostages.
As for the future government of Gaza, Trump proposed a “temporary transitional” board consisting of a “technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee” that would be “responsible for delivering the day-to-day running of public services and municipalities for the people of Gaza.” Trump would oversee this body, called the “Board of Peace.”
