Three more escaped New Orleans inmates captured as manhunt continues for last two
The article reports on the capture of three out of ten inmates who escaped from a New Orleans jail earlier this month. The Louisiana Attorney General stated that Lenton Vanburen was apprehended in Baton Rouge, while Leo Tate and Jermaine Donald were arrested in Texas following a high-speed chase, over 300 miles away from the initial escape site. These three inmates now face additional charges for their escape. The remaining two fugitives are deemed “extremely dangerous” and authorities believe they may have a support network in New Orleans or could perhaps be elsewhere. This incident has also led to the arrest of thirteen individuals who allegedly aided the escape, which involved inmates using electric hair trimmers to cut their way through cell walls.

Law enforcement found three more inmates of the 10 who escaped a New Orleans jail earlier this month. Two men remain at large.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill said Lenton Vanburen was detained in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, while Leo Tate and Jermaine Donald were detained in Walker County, Texas.
Authorities in Baton Rouge, which is 72 miles from New Orleans, said Vanburen was found while sitting on a bench near a department store. He was in jail for firearms and parole violation charges.
The Huntsville Police Department said Tate and Donald were arrested after a high-speed chase. They were found more than 300 miles from New Orleans. Donald was in jail on charges of second-degree murder and other crimes, and Tate was in jail on burglary and firearms charges.
The three inmates will now face additional charges. These three inmates were the first found outside of New Orleans.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Brian Fair said the two inmates who have not been captured are “extremely dangerous,” noting they could be anywhere.

“Both of them and other of the people on the run have had a support network in the New Orleans area, but they could be outside of the New Orleans area,” Fair said. “It’s going to take a lot more work to figure out where they are exactly.”
Thirteen people have been arrested for their alleged roles in aiding the inmates’ escape. Ten inmates escaped the jail over a week ago by allegedly using electric hair trimmers to help cut their way through the cell walls, according to CNN.
