Three people were killed and six more were wounded on Thursday after a car hit a bicyclist and crashed into a grocery store in Los Angeles, according to authorities.
The crash was reported shortly after noon and was caused by a 92-year-old woman driving a Toyota Prius, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The car collided with the bicyclist before continuing another block and hitting the bakery section of a 99 Ranch Market location in the Westwood neighborhood. Several people were trapped under the vehicle.
Two men and a woman, who were all inside the bakery, died at the scene. Two men were taken to the hospital in critical condition, and two other men were in fair condition.
The driver and bicyclist declined to be transported to the hospital, according to officials.
The fire department believes the tragic crash was an accident, not an intentional criminal act.

“This does not seem to be of any ill intent,” LAFD Captain Erik Scott said. The crash “does not seem to be an intentional act, but rather being investigated, so far, as an accidental traffic collision.”
It remains unclear what led up to the crash, but a possible medical episode may have been the likely cause due to the woman’s elderly age. The driver was undergoing a medical evaluation and cooperating with investigators.
