Threads, the potential ‘Twitter Killer,’ might already be struggling to survive.
Threads: The Failed Twitter Killer
When Meta introduced its new social media site Threads to compete with Twitter, supporters dubbed it the “Twitter Killer.” However, Threads is now on life support as usage of the platform continues to plummet.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Thread’s daily user engagement has dropped to around 13 million members, a staggering 70% decrease from its peak on July 7. Additionally, users of the iOS and Android apps are spending an average of just four minutes per day on Threads. In comparison, Twitter boasts around 200 million daily users, with an average time spent on the app of 30 minutes per day, according to web analytics firm SimilarWeb.
Threads was seen as a beacon of hope for liberals who were dissatisfied with Twitter’s lack of censorship under “Chief Twit” Elon Musk. They believed that Facebook’s new sister platform would actively censor information that was inconvenient to the Democrat-Media Complex. However, the flawed business model and the endorsement from CNBC’s Jim Cramer should have been clear signs that Threads was destined to fail.

And just like that it’s all over.

Ironically, Twitter’s death has been predicted and even hoped for by some ever since Elon Musk acquired it. Musk’s defense of free speech earned him the scorn of Legacy Media and the Left. However, there is no indication that Twitter is going to die anytime soon.
Threads, on the other hand, seems to be hanging on by a thread.
