Russell Crowe Talks About “Gladiator 2” and His Future in Hollywood

Actor Russell Crowe has been bombarded with questions about the upcoming film “Gladiator 2” to the point where he believes the producers should be paying him.

Crowe, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in the original “Gladiator” in 2001, revealed at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival that he will not be part of the sequel.

“They should be f***ing paying me for the amount of questions I am asked about a film I am not even in,” the actor complained.

Although he won’t be involved, Crowe admits to feeling a certain jealousy towards the project, as it reminds him of his younger days and the impact the original film had on his life.

“It has nothing to do with me. In that world, I am dead. Six feet under. But I do admit to a certain tinge of jealousy, because it reminds me of when I was younger and what it meant for me, in my life,” he continued.

Despite not having any specific information about the cast or plot, Crowe has faith in director Ridley Scott’s ability to deliver another captivating story.

“I don’t know anything about the cast, I don’t know anything about the plot. I am dead!” he exclaimed. “But I know that if Ridley has decided to do a second part of the story, over 20 years later, he must have had very strong reasons. I can’t think of this movie being anything other than spectacular.”

In addition to discussing his recent work in films like “The Pope’s Exorcist,” Crowe also reflected on his own future in Hollywood as he approaches his 60th birthday.

“You are standing in front of the mirror, and go: ‘Who the f*** is that?’ I am in that period now,” he said. “I will take Ridley Scott as my role model: he is still discovering new things in his work. Or I will just stop and you will never hear from me again. I haven’t decided what it’s going to be. These are two very valid choices.”
