These 4 Dem Vote-Rigging Tactics Are A ‘Threat To Democracy’

The article criticizes the Democratic Party for what it sees as efforts to undermine democratic processes when election outcomes do not favor them. It highlights recent actions by Texas Democrats who fled the state to protest new redistricting maps in compliance with Department of Justice and court rulings that found certain districts unlawfully gerrymandered. The article argues that Democrats regularly attempt to change election rules-such as opposing voter ID laws, pushing to abolish the Electoral College, and trying to remove opponents like Donald Trump from ballots-to secure permanent power rather than uphold democratic principles. It also discusses the widespread use of “lawfare” by Democrats, citing multiple legal battles against Trump as examples of weaponizing the legal system. The piece contrasts Democratic rhetoric about defending democracy with their actions, which the author claims often undermine voters’ rights and election integrity.

For a party that never stops lecturing Americans about “defending democracy,” Democrats sure spend a lot of time trying to undermine its outcomes. Whether it’s weaponizing the legal system to sideline their opponents, overturning voter-approved ID laws, or trying to scrap the Electoral College entirely, Democrats treat every election loss as a problem to be solved — by changing the rules. But let Republican voters in Texas elect lawmakers who — in compliance with a recent DOJ directive — draw new district maps and Democrats clutch their pearls. But it’s not redistricting that threatens “democracy” (in actuality, our constitutional republic), it’s Democrats’ never-ending crusade to manipulate the election rules until they guarantee permanent power.

Fifty-seven Texas House Democrats abandoned the state on Sunday and headed to Illinois, New York, and Massachusetts to protest a new redistricting proposal. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott called a special legislative session to vote on new maps that would fall in line with both a recent Department of Justice finding that four districts were unlawfully gerrymandered on racial grounds as well as a Fifth Circuit Court ruling.

Democrats decided to flee the state to avoid voting on the maps.

“We’re leaving Texas to fight for Texans,” Texas House Democratic Caucus Chair Gene Wu said in a statement on Sunday. “We’re not walking out on our responsibilities; we’re walking out on a rigged system that refuses to listen to the people we represent.”

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker said “everything” is on “the table” to “fight back,” and that this is “about rigging the system against the rights of all Americans for years to come.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom said “this is what fighting for our democracy looks like.” Newsom called it a “five-alarm fire for democracy in the United States of America.”

But for all the screeching the left does about “democracy,” they sure have had no problem upending it when it delivers outcomes they don’t like.

Voter ID Laws

In March of 2024, Huntington Beach residents approved a ballot measure that would require voters to present identification in order to vote in municipal elections. Surely Newsom, who believes so much in “democracy,” would support the will of the voters, right?

Wrong.

In October, Newsom signed into law legislation that prohibits “a local government from enacting or enforcing any charter provision, ordinance, or regulation requiring a person to present identification for the purpose of voting or submitting a ballot at any polling place, vote center, or other location where ballots are cast or submitted, as specified.”

This came after the state — which cares so much about “democracy” — sued Huntington Beach over voter ID.

Notably, voter ID laws are popular nationwide — and opposed by Democrats nationwide.

Lawfare

Lawfare was perhaps the single most defining term of the 2024 election.

Trump turned himself in for an unprecedented mugshot in Georgia in 2023 after far-left District Attorney Fani Willis charged him and more than a dozen others over their objections related to the certification of the 2020 election. Notably, as reported in these pages by Tristan Justice, “Democrats had made similar challenges against election outcomes for decades. In fact, Democrats objected to more states in the 2016 election than Republicans did in 2020, but none faced criminal charges.” Ultimately, Willis — along with her entire team — was disqualified from prosecuting Trump after a series of scandals exposed numerous improprieties.

On top of that, Trump spent the first half of 2024 tied up in the courts because of lawfare. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg — who campaigned on a “get-Trump” agenda, accused Trump of wrongly classifying alleged payments to his then-lawyer Michael Cohen to purchase the silence of pornographer Stormy Daniels as legal fees rather than campaign expenses. Trump was convicted on 34 phony charges.

Trump was also ordered to pay a $454 million penalty in a separate case for a “crime” in which there were no victims and no one was financially hurt.

And President Joe Biden’s own Department of Justice waged a multi-year lawfare campaign against Trump.

Electoral College

After Trump swept both the electoral college and the popular vote, Democrats rushed to call for the abolition of the electoral college.

Sens. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Peter Welch, D-Vt., said they want to “restore democracy” by destroying one of the Constitution’s foremost safeguards against tyranny. Instead, the resolution would provide for the direct election of both the president and vice president by national popular vote: in other words, tyranny of the majority.

Failed vice presidential candidate Tim Walz also endorsed abolishing the electoral college, saying “we need national popular vote.”

Removing Opponents From The Ballot

The Supreme Court was forced to issue a unanimous ruling last year to make clear that states do not have the constitutional authority to boot Trump off the ballot. Left-wing activists in Colorado, Maine and Illinois attempted to remove Trump from the ballot, with Colorado’s left-wing Supreme Court ruling Trump was ineligible to appear on the ballot.

For a party that loves “democracy,” they sure had no problem trying to remove their opponent from the ballot and strip voters of their right to choose.
