The View’s Sunny Hostin Expresses Concerns Over Sen. Tim Scott’s Relationship Status
The co-host of The View, Sunny Hostin, recently shared her concerns about Senator Tim Scott potentially marrying someone similar to Ginni Thomas. This discussion took place during Tuesday’s episode of the show, where the hosts delved into the topic of Scott’s donors expressing worries about his unmarried status while running for president.
“The only thing that I worry about is, like, a Ginni Thomas popping up,” Hostin expressed. “So you have someone that is single and someone becomes president, and then he meets a Ginni Thomas who is, and I think most people know, there’s some wonder as to how involved she is with what has happened on the Supreme Court, because her husband is on the Supreme Court and that little pillow talk that happens and Jan. 6. And so if someone is not married and then they get married to Ginni Thomas, I’m concerned.”
This unease surrounding the possibility of Scott marrying “a Ginni Thomas-type person” arises from concerns raised by some Democrats. They worry that Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, has influenced his decisions in court due to her conservative activism. A book titled Nine Black Robes: Inside the Supreme Court’s Drive to the Right and Its Historic Consequences revealed that Supreme Court justices have privately criticized Ginni Thomas for her “various political schemes.”
While some individuals have expressed apprehension about Scott’s unmarried status as a politician, Sara Haines, another co-host of The View, believes that his current situation is “totally fine.” Haines emphasizes that being married and having children does not automatically make someone a good politician. She believes that a leader’s integrity and character define their capabilities.
When asked about concerns regarding his unmarried status, Scott responded by questioning the significance of such headlines. He stated that he is currently dating a ”wonderful girlfriend” and feels blessed to have found a smart, Christian woman in his life. Scott also mentioned that the attention he receives in the polls and at his town halls scares even his opponents.
Recent polling data indicates that in a direct matchup, nearly all Republican candidates running in the party’s 2024 presidential primary race would defeat President Joe Biden. Scott leads with 46% against Biden’s 44%. Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley holds the largest lead in the polls, surpassing Biden by a margin of 6 percentage points.
