‘The View’ laments need for COVID-19 vaccine prescription requirement thanks to RFK Jr.
The hosts of the television show *The View* expressed frustration over the new requirement that COVID-19 booster vaccines can only be obtained with a prescription. This policy change, linked to Health and Human Services Secretary robert F. Kennedy jr., was discussed during the first episode of the show’s new season. Co-hosts shared personal anecdotes about the difficulties individuals faced when trying to get vaccinated without a prescription, criticizing Kennedy’s leadership and credibility. The discussion referenced Kennedy’s controversial hearing before a Senate committee and recent changes to vaccine recommendations, including the removal of COVID-19 vaccines from the routine immunization schedule for healthy children and pregnant women. The FDA recently approved COVID-19 vaccine doses primarily for people over 65 or those with underlying medical conditions, intensifying debate around vaccine accessibility and policy under Kennedy’s administration.

The hosts of The View complained Monday about the prescription requirement to receive COVID-19 booster vaccines.
During Monday’s episode, the first of the show’s new season, the hosts retroactively discussed Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s hearing from last week.
“[Kennedy] is not a doctor. I went to get a COVID shot while I was on vacation, and they told me I needed a prescription. Since when? I’ve never had that before,” co-host Joy Behar said.
“The guy [Kennedy] — you know, eats road kill out of his freezer. I have to listen to that?” Behar continued.

“This is anecdotal, but my aunt — she’s over 65, she’s a retired teacher, she has certain health complications. She went to CVS and Walgreens, and they denied her vaccines,” co-host Sunny Hostin said. “Same. They wanted a prescription.”
“I think we need to start getting our information from other places because we know we can’t trust RFK Jr.,” Hostin added.
Kennedy announced in May that the COVID-19 vaccine was removed from the recommended immunization schedule for healthy children and pregnant women.

Last month, the Food and Drug Administration granted approval for COVID-19 vaccine doses for people over age 65, who are most vulnerable to severe infections. However, younger people are only eligible if they have at least one underlying medical condition that puts them at higher risk for hospitalization or death.
